I thnk Disney would buy the muppets because it wold stop other from even if they do take themselves over there sleves over who will distribute movies and TV? Disney, Viacom, AOL Timewarner? So I think they shold buy them and get it over with so we don't have to hope the muppets don't go under or get bought by another company a NEW Muppet movie with the Disney/ Henson name on it will do good there hasn't benn many like lately.

Well, yes, I agree, Disney Should buy the Muppets, but if they have to buy one, I think it should be MGM well, maybe it shouldn't, hmm I dunno. They should buy em both. (yeah, in a perfect world)

I think Disney Should buy MGM. This way the Disney-MGM Studios name will change to the Walt Disney Studios FL. And Disney would have the rights to Tom & Jerry, and the Pink Panther movies. Disney could do Magic there. Plus Disney should buy the Muppets. Disney has made many muppet movies, and the Muppets would be in a better place. After all, Jim Henson was thinking about joining Disney back in '85. Then he died, right after he designed Muppet Vision 3-D. That company should be part of the Disney Family. Warner Brothers is kind of "friends" with Disney. With "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", The Monsters Inc. "Harry Potter" ad., The Wizard of Oz, and many other ways, Disney and WB. exist nicely together. Viacom, on the other hand, owns Universal. Disney hates Universal. Universal fired Disney. Universal Stinks! lol.

WB and Disney really dont get alnog they age the 2 largest media companies out there. Disney fault long and hard aganist the AOL- Timewarner meger (owner of WB).

And Viacom doesn't own Universal- Universal is owned by Vivendi Universal. Awhile back Disney and MCA/Universal were thinking about mergering.

That's a joke. That goes back to the Monorail Story, when Universal went bankrupt, and couldn't build their section of the Monorail Track to the airport. The Universal parks were then offered to Disney, but Disney refused the offer, because the parks wern't Disney enough.

Thanks Dizzknee,

Partial quote of linked story:

"Sony-led group near purchase of MGM studio
By Thor Valdmanis and Michael McCarthy, USA TODAY
NEW YORK — After a series of near misses, a Sony-led consortium is in the final stages of acquiring Hollywood film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for $5 billion, people with direct knowledge of the talks say.
. . . The parties expect to announce the deal before MGM's annual meeting on June 29.

The sale of MGM would mark another milestone for 87-year-old billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, who owns 75% of the last major independent film studio. "

What the heck? MGM the last major independent film studio? Earth to USA TODAY, The Walt Disney Studios haven't been bought by Comcast yet!

As for MGM, Sony can have 'em! There aren't enough Pink Panthers, James Bonds or Tom and Jerrys to add up to $5 billion!

Disney is not independent - it is a corporation owned by shareholders. I assume from the statement that MGM is not a corporation and is owned by an individual or individuals, not shareholders.

Nope it's public (stock symbol is MGM). They just have a majority stock holder like Jobs I believe has a 60% ownership in PIXAR. This gives them alot of say in takeovers, mergers, buyouts, etc. Thats why when the Comcast Disney deal was hot rumors had it that Hearst Media would buy a large stake in Disney.

I personally feel that Disney should buy MGM for $5-$7 billion. Yeah, that's a large chunk of change but the turnover wouldn't take that long for the company. They have an excellent year ahead of them and many more to follow after that which would help in their large purchase. Think about it, Universal could go and purchase MGM right now, then what do we do? Two large power houses conflicting, and Disney having the Disney-MGM Studios on property. Orlando would be the next warzone. I think they should act upon it now and buy it, no matter what the price, just no higher than $7 billion of course!

MGM would cost dis only around 5-6 Billion Fox Family cost Dis 5.2 Billion. Which is why Disney should buy MGM it also be a good studio to have if a Miramax fall out happens. Also I don't know how MGM works with MGM Mirage but what I can figure out they are a different company, maybe pays royalities?

I wouldn't mind a Disney-Sony studios... But then again, there really is no need for Disney to be partner with anyone.

Disney does have:
Disney Studios
Touchstone
Miramax
ABC

And also Disney could always do... Kill Bill Stunt Show... (I wish)
