MGM/Soap week

Can anyone tell me the exact dates for this? Does it basically take over MGM when it's going on? I would guess it would make MGM more crowded, but does it affect the other parks at all? Thanks for any help!:)

I believe that the Monitor that my parents got said November 10th and 11th. I've never been but am really excited to see it. I believe it will work a bit like star wars weekends? That was only at MGM and it was happening in most areas of the park. You saw people in other parks or the resorts with star wars stuff on (a bit more so than normal) but nothing else. I hope this helps.

Hi there...we found if you are not there for the Super Soap Weekend events, then avoid MGM on those days. It is extramly busy. We noticed that all the parks got quite busy that weekend but they did expand the hours at Magic Kingdom in the evenings. Oh and I believe the dates this year are the 1oth and 11th!

I went last year because my mother in law LOVES the ABC soaps. It should be the 10th and 11th of November. It is CHAOS! If you want personal time for your autograph and a pic w/the celeb, get there early. ABC will have a map layout shortly before the event. Here you will find where you get the fastpass to meet your favorite star. They also have a HUGE set up in front of the "hat" where they do interviews, but there are large screens so you can view it from anywhere. They actually hand out autographs from the stars if you do not have a pass. CM's stand there and hand them out. That's how we got them last year. We did notice that it did not have a terrible impact on the lines for rides, and we were given a dream fastpass. Yes, it is a hostile takeover, but if you love the celebs, my mother in law found it well worth it. Although, the rest of us were so miserable, that we left that park in 3/4 hours. This year, since she is not with us, we are NOT going!

The dates are nov 10 & 11th this year. I've been to one Super Soap Weekend, and the park was very crowded. My mom used to go every year, by herself for 4 days just for soap weekend, and would have a blast. Last year we arrived on the last day of soap weekend, but we never go to DHS on our first day. So we just avoid that park on that day. This year we will also be arriving on the last day of the event, and we will be avoiding that park again. I don't think it has any kind of affect on the other parks at all. We actually visit during a week where there are no crowds or lines at all in November. So it was really nice not to have to rush around and figure out when we wanted to see and do everything. We got to take our time with everything, enjoy ourselves more, and take in all that magic at a slower pace.

Super Soap Weekend is INSANE! I was there for one of them (for work reasons) and I never have wanted to get out of a Disney park so fast!

Think of it as a feeding frenzy for women on a mission! They do what they have to do to meet their favorite star, meaning some of their actions aren't so magical, but brutal!

If you are there at Studios, just plan ahead. Get there early and hit ToT and RnRC first thing while the Soap people are getting their FP's for autographs.

Good luck.

MGM - now Disney Studios will be packed. It will probably close to capacity around 10 AM so get there early if that is why you are going. If not going to Soap Weekend...stay away from that park. Hopefully you have booked your hotel because it becomes really hard to get a room the closer you get to the date of Super Soap Weekend. A lot of the Deluxe Resorts sell out because that is where a lot of the celebraties stay...i.e. Boardwalk Inn will or probably is sold out already. That's because all they have to do is take the boat over to MGM, and they usually run a special boat just for the celebraties...

If you are not much of a soap fan, ( like me, blah!) Then you have to stay away from MGM that weekend, the rest of WDW isn't that bad. But then you also have the IFWF at EPCOT. Many things to try.

We went one year and DH said "never again." I loved it but the crowds were unreal. I've never seen ANYTHING like it before. The other parks were not bad...I think everyone was at MGM.

I have to say though, I'd go back in a minute if DH would agree to it. I loved the ABC store. I purchased props while I was there in 04 and would love to get more........
