Are you sure about that? Or are you just going by what you've been told from someone? Usually only managers & CMs AT the lights know how late the lights are open. So I'm curious if you really know for sure. I don't mean to be mean you understand, I just don't want some answer like, "Well, I think so." I don't need a think so answer, I need a know so. :)

When we were leaving MK friday after MVMCP there was a huge fireworks display in the general area of MGM or Epcot. Could this had possibly been it? If so it should be great. It had a finale just like the holiday ending of illuminations with a ton of shells going off at once. This was at 12:20 am so I asked a CM if they knew anything and she said it was the nightly new years thing at PI but it was in the wrong direction or at least it looked that way to me.

I heard it through the grapevine today that now they are moving it to way after park close. Around 10pm. As usual everything is always subject to change. So it may change again before then.

It is well after park closing time and not open to guests.

Currently, it's set for about 10:30pm.
The park will NOT be open to guests.

However, you should be able to access the guest parking lot, you will have a very good few from the front section right before the bus and handicap area.

Yes I did.

Here is what I can tell you. It's a good show; the soundtrack is very interesting and has a few rather unexpected songs in it. Very nice show design. In my opinion the ending isn't as good as it should be. I have to be honest when I say, there was some issues with the test so not all the stuff fired. However, from what did fire I was hoping for a bit more "noise" as it's not as loud as the Epcot holiday tag.

Yet it could still be heard at my house! Until this morning I couldn't figure out what park was having those fireworks!
