On Monday, 12/20, Disney-MGM Studios will do a full rehearsal run of the NYE fireworks show at 8pm....it is open to all guests.

if I recall from last year, these "special" NYE fireworks at MGM are pretty crappy compared to Sorcery in the Sky--I seem to remember people saying Disney shoulda just brought Sorcery back. Even w/ Disney allowing you to see the NYE fireworks twice this year (12/30 and 31) I'd still end up picking MK and Epcot over MGM...

I heard it through the grapevine today that now they are moving it to way after park close. Around 10pm. As usual everything is always subject to change. So it may change again before then.

I was planning just to go for tomorrow night, but if it's gonna be too late to see it, then I may just not go.

Also, are the lights open an hour later than the park like in the past?

I do not have a time update, but I'll see what I can find out before 5pm on Monday for everyone.

From what I have been told, this is going to be THE BIGGEST NYE show at WDW. The amount of product to be used is supposed to be more than Epcot or Wishes. Firing sites will be all over MGM and apparently down Hollywood blvd as well. As a side note, for those who are unable to get into the park, you will easily be able to see this show from the MGM parking lot.
