I was at MGM last week and was amazed at the amount of love bugs there that day! (I believe it was May 8) I didn't notice them at the other parks however. Why so many at MGM you think? (And yes, I realize there's only one Herbie at MGM :lookaroun )

Random thread, I know.

They are everywhere. Tip: teach kids that while annoying and plentiful, they are just like ladybugs. You can catch them in your hand. They will not bite. I see kids freaking out till you show them that they can catch them and not get hurt. Then I teach them to use them as batting practice. :D

^^^^ Yeah, the ones right now are nothin'. There are times of the year that there must be thousands if not millions. They cover up the Archway near the hat and turn it from turquoise to black. Guests sit on them, accidently swallow them, etc.

:hurl:

But I wonder why they're so drawn to the Studios?

If you drive any of the highways in Central Florida, I recommend getting a car wash as soon as you can. Those little things splat and stay on your windshield, bumper, etc. for a real long time!!!!!

Be sure to wash them off. The little suckers decomposing bodies will eat right through your paint. Learned the hard way. :(

small black slow flying insect with a little red head. They often fly in pairs, stuck together, thus the term love bugs. They are harmless except to automobiles.

And they swarm so if you are driving on the turnpike, they hit and smear up everything... is one reason I love those windshield sprayers on the turnpike!! :D

I learned the hard way too. It's because their blood content is acidic, so it kills any wonderful paintjob. August is a terrible month for them. Black park benches, etc. There isn't really anything to get rid of them either, so annoying.
