im affraid i have to dissagree with you in saying that AK is the hottest park, for me the numerous amounts of trees and plantlife offer shade.
the hottest park i think is epcot because of its wide open spaces between certain attractions and especially the walk from future world to world showcase.

I feel hot in both parks. But mostly in Animal Kingdom.

I think that DAK is the hottest, but it has Kali as relief, in addition to what, about 4 airconditioned buildings?

MGM has 10 AC'd Attractions, but many outdoor shows. As far as actual attractions go, here's the rundown (for epcot, to be fair, the land will not quilify as 3 AC'd attractions, just 1.) These are all actual attractions, not including some of the things the maps call and attraction (VMK central?).

MK-15 (not including toontown's walk through's)
Epcot-16 (each pavilion only gets 1, countires without attractions not included)
MGM-10
DAK-5 (including everest), soon to be 6 with nemo.

So, the fact is Epcot has the most AC, and DAK has the least.

That's funny about AK. My husband and I went there when it first opened. All he ever said about AK was that it was really hot. I told him it was his imagination. Now I am thinking he was right after all.

I also think they get hotter at different times of the day, that may account for why we all have different recolections.
Anyone know about plants?

Plants release moisture in the morning... so its more humid there earlier, i think that MGM gets hot due to lack of shade in the afternoon, and the fact that the black pavement absorbs heat and radiates it back out as the day goes on.
Epcot's never felt particularly hot to me, but as someone else said, how much time are you really outside there? Not to mention that the pavement is lighter colored, and there's a nice big lake to absorb the heat.

I'm really skeptical about the whole "heat as theming" idea at AK too. Most of the time you want to make your customers happy, so they'll stay longer and spend more money. While the heat may drive you inside, i think the general irritabilty that i've seen come over people there (myself included) makes you want to leave completely.

AK, without a doubt (Epcot's "rays" nonwithstanding).

You can get on a bus somewhere, perfectly fine, get off at AK, and suddenly it's 10 degrees hotter and infinitely more humid and the sweat starts to drip.

I've heard and assumed it was hot park for all the reasons mentioned here - the warm air gets trapped in the pockets of foliage with no where to escape, the physical make-up of the land itself, the general lack of enclosed AC buildings to periodically escacpe, and others.

I can't give a scientific explaination for it, but I would swear on a stack of bibles it was true...just from my own personal experience. Shade (which AK does have a lot of) doesn't help when the humidity and circulation is so bad. AK at least FEELS much hotter than all of the other parks, and it's especially noticable when park hopping.

I'm with the majority on this one. AK is noticably, painfully hotter. It's not helped by lukewarm shops which have no a/c to speak of and which means you never get out of the blazing heat and sun. MK has a million indoor/cool shops and rides so it's extremely easy to get out of the heat for awhile.

AK is a hot, humid, jungle of heat h-e-double-hockey sticks.

Definitely AK. Epcot can be very cool even cold depending on the weather because of all the wide open walkways and tunnels to channel the air. I've been to AK and Epcot in the same day when it was cooler and AK always feels warmer and Epcot you could almost put a jacket on because of the way the wind can whip there.

I can understand now that people are saying Animal Kingdom is the hottest. I haven't been during the summertime to Animal Kingdom. I will say that in the summer, before Mickey's hat was put up, MGM was hands down the hottest park. It was the middle of July and the concourse in front the Great Movie Ride was up to 115. The soles of my sneakers were sticking to the ground.

Cheers.... that actually scares me.... @_@ *shudders at the thought of being melted into the ground*

@_@ Speaking of the heat being so BAD and STICKING, here's a very very very good reason why Disney DOES NOT sell Gum anywhere on property:

I was in Animal Kingdom, and I was walking with my dad, away from Everest, and we were talking about it, laughing, and I was so completely distracted that I didn't even notice the enormous wad of yellow gum I stepped in. I felt myself sticking to the ground as I walked, and I flipped out, thinking my shoes were melting to the ground. I looked behind me, and I was leaving this really odd, long, sticky, almost cartoon-like trail of gum, and everyone was standing there going "Oh my gooood..." until I finally scraped my foot against the ground. Before everyone started moving again, I said "....And THAT is why Disney doesn't sell gum in the park." And just turned around and moved on.

The gum had melted into a liquidy GOO and as soon as my shoe made contact with it, it was all over. @_@

AK is the most 'humid' park.
With all the plant life in AK... it holds the most humidity / moisture out of all the parks. Which makes it feel very uncomfortable there.

I have to agree that MGM is the 'hottest' park... lots of pavement... and not a lot of foilage & shade... make this park the hottest.

Ditto on AK as the most 'humid' and, therefore, most uncomfortable park....although I have to put Epcot, especially World Showcase, as the hottest. Maybe it's a mental thing but that red walkway seems to reflect the heat more than the others.

Animal Kingdom for sure is the hottest park out there because of there atmosphere (plants, lots of trees) but yes techincally they are the same temperatures:lol: Never the less AK shall always be the hottest of them all!

Epcot, specifically the World Showcase, is the worst IMO. There is just no shade anywhere, and you have to walk long distances out in direct sunlight. There are more places to get out of the heat at Epcot, but just walking around I think Epcot is the worst easily.

Animal Kingdom hands down is the hottest - it is unbearable when the sun starts beating down -- and the humidity is higher because of the flora and fauna -- Epcot is spread out with lots of sun beating down, but sun does not always mean hot, it means sun -- but at least the other three parks have some breezes and more air-conditioned buildings...Animal Kingdom does me in.

I can see why AK would be considered the hottest and there's no question it's hot. But somehow MGM always seems really hot with all of the blacktop and as much as we like it, we always end up leaving sooner rather than later to jump in the nearest pool.

This has always been my feeling as well. Its like being in a tropical jungle, the humidity seems higher too
