Pre-Trip Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays - December 2024

Hellooooo Humans!

Our clan is headed back to WDW in less than four weeks! Between work stress, daylight savings sleep deprivation, and election anxiety in the US, I could really use a pick-me-up, so let’s get this Pre-Trip report started!

Who: Me (Katie), my husband Jason, and our 3-year-old son, Lincoln.

When: Sunday, December 1st - Saturday, December 7th

Where: Pop Century! We initially wanted Caribbean Beach, but it wasn’t available with the bounceback offer we received on our last trip. So, we decided on Pop - we love the refurbished rooms, the theming is fun for Lincoln, and it’s still on the Skyliner route.

We’ll have to re-create this picture from 2021!

Why: We go to Disney the week after Thanksgiving every year- you get the full holiday experience without the insane crowds that descend on the parks closer to Christmas.

I look forward to sharing our trip with everyone!

Live trip reporting with a 3yo is impossible, so just dropping in to say we are indeed here. The first couple days were challenging (threenagers gonna threenager), but we’ve hit our stride and we are all enjoying the trip.

One thing of note - last year, L was really interested in the pressed penny machines, which took either four quarters, or you could swipe your card for $5 and get all of the designs in one machine. So, we collected all of the quarters from our house and both sets of grandparents leading up to the trip. And every single machine we’ve seen now takes dollar bills, not quarters. Thankfully a really nice cast member at the Poly was willing to let us trade in $19 in quarters for 19 one dollar bills.

And I hear ya - the terrible twos weren’t (at least not with my DD). But 3 was definitely another story

I laughed when I saw the (gleeful) photo of him in the sand box! Little kids are so funny. They just have this innate joie de vivre!

In June, Lincoln turned three - and holy cow, the price jump from taking a 2yo to WDW to taking a 3yo…

In August, my sister got married, and I gained a new brother. Good thing, since Lincoln has been referring to my BIL as Uncle N since he could talk.

A few days after the wedding, Lincoln started preschool. It was a big transition for all of us, but he’s really enjoying it so far.

For Halloween, Lincoln dressed up as Lewis, the internet-famous Halloween animatronic from Target.

And as soon as we got home from trick-or-treating, Lincoln asked where his Christmas tree was…so this happened on Saturday. I guess Lincoln is on the Disney holiday schedule.

Currently re-watching one of Mammoth Club’s Lightning Lane videos, studying for tomorrow morning.

I’ve checked the pricing for our trip, and again I say, it was so much cheaper traveling with a 2-year-old.

I've really grown to love Emma with AllEars too, after she replaced Molly. I was sad to hear that she's moving and won't be on the channel as often.

Just popping in to say I hope you’ve all had a wonderful holiday season so far, and I promise to start the full TR next week!

In the meantime, here are some snapshots from our holiday season:

Lincoln had his first Christmas program at his preschool- he did surprisingly well, although he kept turning around to talk to one of his classmates on the row behind him.
