Yay! So glad it seems to be working out.

Letting more people experience the attraction is a wonderful thing, as long as the original remains anything else is just selfish.

I just tried out the new Green version last night...

Surprisingly, I found that many of the same sensations are present. That is, to my amazement, it seems that the general spinning does not have a direct impact on most parts of the attraction. Of course, the g-forces give a great boost to the blastoff and Mars descent. Indeed, for these two segments of the attraction, it's almost as though Green is a regular, flat 2-D film and Orange is the 3-D special-effects-laden version. But beyond these two segments, I'd be hard pressed to say that Green is a significantly less intense experience. (Orange isn't that intense to begin with, so...)

I also agree.
DISNEY has done it again:sohappy:

Are we talking sustained G's here? Beyond 4 g's your heart can not generate enough pressure for the blood to reach your brain which is what causes dizziness, black outs etc... On a ride like RnR the G forces you experience do not last very long but they do last a while on M:S.

I have no idea of the exact numbers but I doubt there are many people who could handle any sort of sustained G's around 4. I sure as heck would be bypassing that ride

ah that might cause a problem,if 4 Gs causes blackouts and such then maybe not that many maybe about 3 to 3.5 Gs, just the right amount to really make you feel the force of liftoff.
oh right so thats how come M:S feels more intense because RnRC doesnt have sustained Gs.

Single rider

Any chance a single rider line will return or did they use all the area up with the new lines?
I'm orange all over!

I'm feeling really good about this whole thing right now, after dreading it for some time. There are definitely some kinks to work out, but I think M:S has a new lease on life. Our attendance today was far beyond what we've been seeing recently.

I'm extatic to hear this, especially from a CM on the ride and one who was very worried about it. Disney has done it again. They've made a great ride, and they've implemented it well it seems.

As someone who will never ride the Orange version and who was so disapointed to find how strong it was when I got to the park, I am more excited than ever to go back to Epcot again. Hopefully when I return I'll get to ride a working Test Track, an operating Living with the Seas with Nemo, and the Green version of Mission Space.

I want to go back now. It seems it's turned out even better than I'd hoped.

Thanks Merf!

:sohappy: Whew! I'm glad to hear about the lesser intense side of the ride. We're going in Sept. and DH wants the full experience. Me....well....I'll settle for the tamer side.

well finally get some time off to post

ok it did go much smoother than i thought it would

but there are still some major kinks to work out such as only having1 bay operating this was almost NEVER allowwed befor the change and shuld still not be why not

well when 1 bay goes down for a long time the people will not move till we can bring anotherone up that meand people in the redy room (WHERE YOU WATCH THE first movie) and every one else will have to wait then the people behind the redy room people will have to wait another 5min so you are looking at 10minutes min befor people even move and standing still while the green side has moved 2-3 times will cause problems but its more of a staffing issue if anything so if you want to work at space apply now

secondly the fast pass is a mess for some reason they decided that we will mix the green and orange fast pass people in to one line then have a cast member sort them out. but due to the sides not moving equally this causes problems like having a ton of orange people standing still while you have green ticket people go past them they get mad fast but not that big of an issue being if the one line is not that long well then have them exit then go through the normal line or move the fast pass orange down the now empty singles line but that can hold only soo much

three. fast pass needs to be changed manually WHAT yeah for some reason they took away the fast pass distrubition sign that we have and replaced it with a manual one up front thats too tall for a number of our cast members in addidtion to this the large sign at the front confuses people iwhy well ther are now 2 sets of signs one on the right and one on the left the one on the left (facing the building coming form mouse gear) is where we have always had one but now on the right we have it and the fast pass distrubution but does not say THIS IS FOR FAST PASS
so a number of people think this is the time our next show is but the people who think that shuldent be riding space but still it would help to point that out to people

the entire ticket thing while all in good needs to be redone but i honstly dont know how . it is a good idea but its tru testing will come memorial day while we have people like this CAST MEMBER "spinning or no spinning sir"
GUEST "well whats the diffrence"

we get that all day but its brand new so hopefully as word spreds they will know befor getting up there .

and one big thing that bugs the crap out of me is we changed the inside line so we can now use it for the green tickets (we have yet to need it ) but the way that thwe line is set up it can be set up to take half and half (HALF GREEN HALF ORANGE ) but i have been told that it will be used only for the green side only while we use the line that goes out side for the orange people now if we dident have the tickets i could see this being a problem with legal or other people saying they could hop the chains and get ing wrong side but with the tickets we can easily see who needs to go. but i dont see how keeping the people that want to spinn out side in the heat with no covering fans or anything to get them sick and misrable right befor riding the intinse ride now altho we dont need to use the out side line that much but if we go down due to protein spill then we get another one due to the heat well then were screwed offically we will then have to evan the line then every one will get in the green line and we will be really in trouble

but other than the few things i have to say it went wayyyyyy wayyy smoother than i could of ever dreamed i think it will work for the most part the only huge concern i have is staffing and you know waht ITS NOT MY JOB TO CARE so i wont and i am part time so i ahve my days off no matter whatso im good there

but over all a good day

I'm excited about the hurl/no hurl option. I rode M:S in 2003 before it officially opened and it was great and all, but I felt "odd" the rest of the day. Hard to explain, and I've never been bothered by a ride before. Since then I have avoided the ride, I will be Choose to Go Green next visit.

I'm orange all over!

I wonder the same thing - maybe they could somehow do it like Expedition Everest, where single-rider and fastpass use the same entrance

Of course, the perfect solution would be an entirely customized ride experience where every ride could be different based on a group of fours own personal preferences. However, I think this is still 3-5 years away from being entirely feasible, so I think my "thrill hour" would be a good compromise for now.

Sorry, the liability of this would be excessive and not something Disney would want to have to deal with. You'd have people killing themselves, literally. There are only so many G forces the body can deal with before you will pass out. Disney worked with NASA on this for years for a happy medium for all. If you want more intense go for real astronaut training (highly unlikely), or get yourself a ride with the Blue Angels.

It seems there has also been some debate with regard to the attraction being toned down over the years. The attraction was never toned down since it officially opened to Guests. There were some tweaks made within the time of Cast & Guest Previews, but the same show has been running since Guest official opening to Friday May 19th.

Orange team here! I would also volunteer for the more hard-core 'red' team! My 70-year-old USAF retired Dad also thought M:S had been toned down. The first year, we could only do it twice. The next year it was no big deal. He told a CM, but he denied it. I guess it is not as bad when you know what is coming. But maybe now Mom can do Green!

Some of the statements here about pulling G's are incorrect. The human body can handle more than 4-5 positive G's, which means you are being pulled down. You can get up to 8-9 with the right gear. An F-16 can pull 9 G. The dangerous G's are the negative, where you go weightless and the blood rushes to your head. You lose it at 2-3 negative G's.
