Merchandise

Merchandise is awesome! I work at the second largest store on property (and no, it's not at MK, contrary to popular belief) so we see a lot of guests everyday. It's busy all the time and I work until late into the night, but I love it and it's a great environment. It's certainly not for everyone, but I love the diversity of positions that can be worked (at least in my location, not always the case everywhere) and how everyday is a new "adventure."

I would love to be in Merchandise. Well let me rephrase that ,Merchandise Management. I am on the fence though-I have 22 years of Retail/ Merchandise/Human Resources Management experience so not sure where I would be the happiest:shrug:

I LOVED working in Merchandise! I did the program Spring 2007 and worked in World Showcase Merch. The hours were great..I usually went in around 1, and when the World Showcase part of the park closed at 9 (which was most nights until the busier season), we were off by 9:45. It obviously depends on your area, but we had four different places we were rotated through in our Merch area-an inside store, an outside kiosk, carts, and Kidcot =) You supposidly were supposed to switch areas at least once every 2 hours, so you'd never get stuck in one of the "bad" places for too long. I guess your experience will depend on your area- we had some really horrible managers, but then others who were great. Just try to make friends with your co-workers..they can make your day fly by! As for training, I was working in my area on my 4th day there! I guess we were a little more desperate than other places...
