If you purchase (or upgrade to) and annual pass does memory maker cover photos taken that day? I assume so, but it seemed possible that the system might not be perfect.
It should cover any valid pictures you have in your account. My parents did a trip a month before we activated our APs, and their pictures still show up as downloadable in my account.

But something that surprised me a bit - though with Disney nowadays I shouldn't be. We have been annual passholders at WDW for 15+ years (and another 8 at DL), and were at the parks the past two weekends and had some photos taken at DHS and Epcot using the Photopass photographers. The photos showed up on our MDE accounts, but lo and behold, if I wanted to download any of them it showed a price of $15 each. There was no other option. I called the WDW "help" (oxymoron) line, and talking with the representative, I was informed that because our pass was so old (October 2015), we were not eligible for the free Photopass download, and we would have to pay if we wanted to download the photos. Needless to say, I did not take advantage of this fantastic deal. I mentioned to the rep that I thought this strategy of WDW made me feel very special.

As others have said this feature was not available with pass you purchased. Those of us who paid the much higher price received this benefit and if you renew you will as well. Trust me I'd rather pay the lower price. I'll take my own pictures. Disney in no way slighted you. Passes purchased before this new benefit were not grandfathered in just because they had not expired and were still active. But something that surprised me a bit - though with Disney nowadays I shouldn't be.
