Meeting Captain Hook and Mr Smee?

My little boy loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates. We're doing breakfast at Hollywood and Vine so he can meet Jake, but he is obsessed with Hook and Smee. I know they're not in any character meals but wondered if there are any meet and greets for them, or if they are ever in any of the parks, wandering about. It would make the whole trip for him, if he could meet them. He's similarly obsessed with Sharky and Bones, but I understand they only do events very rarely.
(Thank goodness he also loves Mickey, who's rather more accessible ;)).

They do have Meet & Greets with both Mr. Smee and Captain Hook together. I have gotten pics with them on numerous occasions, and they always happened to be in the same exact spot in MK. In Adventureland you can find them just outside of the POTC... they are always under one of the overhangs of the buildings right across from the ride. If they are anywhere else, hopefully someone can shed some light but this is the only spot I have ever met them in. :)

If you absolutely MUST meet Hook and Smee, you can do the "Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage", which of course, is pricey. We did it in 2011, and loved it. The Hook and Smee Meet and Greet takes place at the Contemporary, after you check in and when they are serving Dessert and Snacks. They do set up a backdrop for pictures, but luckily kids don't seem to care that you are meeting them in a Hotel conference room........my then 2.5-year-old didn't mind anyway. (There is a Peter Pan meet and greet after you get off the boat).

As for Sharky and Bones, they were/are a pirate-themed band called Captain Bogg and Salty, and existed before the show and still perform under that name, to my knowledge, although if you read their FB page, there are seemingly endless contractual issues between those personae and the Sharky and Bones characters vis a vis their contract with Disney. I doubt there would ever be a meet and greet, although they HAVE performed live at least once at DHS according to their FB Page, so I guess you never know.

The Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage is the best way to do it, it is really fun, it is a bit pricey, but you will get a fantastic picture and your child might be picked to lead the groups out to the boats with them. You also can find them at "Characterpalooza" from time to time at Hollywood Studios...I believe that has been moved to the Streets of America area.

We've run into them here as well.

We need time for things to happen.
As others have mentioned, outside of POTC.
We got some pics and autographs for the kids.
That was back in 2006 POTC was down with the Johnny Depp make over ( I think at the time).
So I wasn't sure if that was a one off thing to better utilize that area, but others area saying they're there regularly then that's the place to go!

Captain Hook and Mr. Smee used to be daily regulars at MK, but have gone back to Neverland and your only chance of finding them is at the Animation Building in late afternoons, or in Epcot at American Adventure

Thank you so much for all of your replies :) You guys are awesome! I'm noting them all down ;)

It'll be his first trip to WDW and as I know it'll be the first of many and he's still quite young, it won't be the end of the world if he doesn't meet them. But knowing what kids are like, he might have new favourites by the time we make our next trip, so it would be cool if he could meet them. Keep your fingers crossed for us!!

We'd actually discounted the Fireworks Voyage as we thought our boy would be too young (2 years & 4 months) but after you mentioning you took your 2.5 year old, it's making me think again. How did your little one cope?

He loved it. It's kind of a mixed bag. There is a LOT of waiting around in the contemporary, and while Disney has done their best (at least as of August 2011) to "magic up" the area with a couple Pirate statues, there is no getting around that you are hanging out in the very bland Corporate Meeting Room common area of a hotel. Like I said, this can actually not be a big deal to a little one. Our guy has never had an issue with being afraid of fireworks, but if your does, being on the Seven Seas Lagoon, at a significantly greater distance, may help with that actually. The cruise is great, although a lot of the jokes probably will go right over his head. The pirate hosts are very "jungle-cruise esque" but clearly have a lot more freedom to ad-lib etc. They have a bunch of free toys to give away for answering trivia questions. Almost 2 years later, and one of the pirate swords we won is still in heavy play rotation. You get an up close view of the Electrical Water Pageant (longest continually running show at WDW, ding!) which is nice, and a great view of both Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. Once the Fireworks start, they cut all the lights and the Wishes music is played through the boat's speaker system. Is it over-priced? Sure, it's Disney, but, especially if you are visiting at a busy time, it's a great way to see the fireworks comfortably, and the other perks are nice as well.

I could have written this post! He even dressed as CH last year for Halloween.

I hope that we can meet them without doing the fireworks thing or the Halloween party. I think we have determined that the Halloween party would not be worth it for our son.

I knew about Captain Bogg and Salty before Jake started b/c they ran some of the songs on the toddler tunes music channel on FIOS. We listen to both JatNP soundtracks every single night. Lucky for me, they are some really good songs. I also downloaded CB&S tunes as well. They are on itunes.

Sharkey and Bones were not the only members of CB&S, so I am sure that is where issues come in. I wish they would tour. My son would love it!

Sorry to bug you again (oops!), but just wondering what kind of time we'd need to be at Contemporary for, and what time it all finishes? I know it probably varies, but just wondering roughly so I can see how it fits into our plans. Seriously considering booking it today :)

I have been wondering about your name, when I've seen you on here. Thought it might have a Sharkey and Bones connection ;) Wish they'd hurry up & bring out just a S&B DVD already! ;)

I am always bad at coming up with screen names; all the Jake stuff was right in front of me, and voila.

We happened to be catching a boat from the Contemporary resort to FW. While were on the pier, Capt Hook and Smee came by leading a group to their firework cruise boat. Maybe you can catch them before they board their cruise boat?
