I work on Pangani and was in Meerkats less than 3 hours ago and they all looked pretty happy to me?
Is anything going on in the exhibit behind the Meerkats? What happened to the Gerenuks and Maribou Storks that were back there.

Honestly I'm not sure. I've only just transferred over there. The meerkats are the only thing in that exhibit and there doesn't appear to be any work or keeper maintenance being done the exhibit itself, I'll try and find out for you if I get a chance to speak to a keeper. But to be honest, whenever anything changes we're just as surprised as you are. We get told NOTHING. The only thing I can promise you is that the meerkats themselves have been there everyday this week. :)

I think it was determined that the meerkats were just out of the exhibit due to a quarantine for an illness. I'm more curious about why it was determined that the other species (Gerenuk and Maribou Storks) were removed. I assume the storks moved to Kilimanjaro Safaris, but I haven't heard an explanation on the Gerenuks.
