I just checked a Youtube ride video and the one at Magic Kindom was about 3:30 long.

Right, that's what I thought and it jives with what my experience with the ride.

So, basically (compared to BTMRR), the 7DMT will be about the same ride length but will be less intense (slower, smaller drops) but will have the swaying of the vehicles and more elaborate show scenes. I think the quality of the show scenes is what is going to be a determine factor in the scope of the ride and how highly regarded it will be.

I'm not predicting an "E-ticket" (which is a pretty elusive description anyway, as it is in the eye of the beholder) but I think the ride will be far more engaging and popular than the detractors are suggesting when they intentionally mock it as a "kiddie coaster".

Where do you get this? From the Disney wiki, BTMRR is 3.5-4 minutes depending on the location. Certainly that could be incorrect, but I don't think BTMRR is a 7 minute ride.
I got it from the Internet. It must be true right...;). Maybe they counted the time it takes to load and unload. Who knows. I guess since it moves faster the length of track at BTMRR seems longer, but you cover ground faster.

So basically it makes my point even stronger if the ride is about the same length as BTMRR. It will be a much closer comparison to BTMRR then Barnstormer.

I don't disagree with anything you said except for the part where you mentioned the ride not being a true E Ticket due to the lack of thrills. The ride isn't going to be an E Ticket (as Lee has mentioned before, it's apparently a D and the animatronics aren't supposed to be anything really impressive apparently). But the lack of thrills isn't the reason it won't be one. There are plenty of true E Tickets that have little or no thrill factor at all. Pirates was and (to me) still is an E Ticket. And all the classic EPCOT Future World attractions definitely qualify as E Tickets (Spaceship Earth, Imagination 1.0, Horizons, World of Motion). And from what i've seen of Mystic Manor, that one absolutely qualifies as an E Ticket. You don't have to have thrills to be an E Ticket. The 7 Dwarfs Mine Train is going to fall short of E status for other reasons. It's almost certainly going to be gorgeous to look at, but so is the Little Mermaid facade and queue and neither is that one an E.
No, you don't need thrills to be an e ticket, but you need quality show scenes and lots of them. Generally the length and innovation is what makes/made most e tickets E. A ride like Rockin roller coaster is short but high thrill so it makes the cut.

I think what holds this ride back from being a true E is the lack of show scenes. I don't want to judge the quality of the AAs without any details on them. Some people have commented that they won't be impressive, but I'll wait to see.

Figured I would ask this here instead of starting a new thread since its about the same area......I thought with this expansion you would be able to cut through from mermaid to storybook circus. But so far its a closed dead end and traffic mess. Is that area still closed off because of the mine train construction but will open once all is done?

My understanding was that it was just for construction and it would open back up when all was said and done. Please correct me if I'm wrong....If not, it will make for a horrible traffic jam!

I still disagree on the expectations of a so so ride. I will have to wait and experience it. Just because it is not an obvious giant attraction like the rialroad or splash mtn or space mtn doesn't mean it won't be nearly as good. They toy story ride and buzz ranger spin and practically the exact same concept but the major technology difference makes the toy story rediculously popular.

I agree that the quality and quantity of the show scenes are what will determine the impact and appeal of this ride. And, at this point, we don't know a lot about them (though some insiders have suggested that the number and length of show scenes was cut from the original design, which is disappointing).

The good thing IMHO is that we know it is a relatively large ride, has a decent ride length and has a novel vehicle movement (the swaying). Hopefully, the show scenes are detailed enough to really make it a top notch attraction.

Judging from the fact that the coaster goes indoors only 2 times, there won't be many show scenes in the ride, though that's not to say that the ones in the ride will be nothing short of spectacular. However, it has already been established that one of the show scenes is the dwarves working in the mine, which encompasses the entire second indoor lift hill, leaving the only other possible show scenes being placed at where the train is leaving the loading area, and before the train heads into the unload.

Overall, I'm not seeing how this ride will be able to showcase every character from Snow White, and if they do, their presence will be minimal at best. Still I'm hopeful that whatever show scenes they include, they will be at least E-ticket quality.

The ride starts/stops indoors, doesn't it? It's possible that they could have some brief scene at least setting the mood when the ride starts.

Also, there's the possibility of some stuff outdoors -- like the "dwarfs walking over the log" scene. But there was talk that it didn't make the final cut for the ride.

That said, I agree that I wouldn't expect this ride to showcase that much of the movie. At most, we might see some brief cameos from Snow and the Evil Queen.

I think the outside will have some great views of the rest of fantasyland too. I know it's not as high up as Splash, but still similar birds eye views of the park.

I was just there. The back side of the mountain is far ahead of the frontside, wouldnt be suprised at all to see this part open earlier than the ride itself.

I agree, especially since whatever goes in the buildings on the back side will be something that generates direct revenue, gift shop, food, etc.
