ME problems for international guests?

I just called the Disney resort reservation line and I thought I'd share with you what I learned. I posted a thread last week to ask how Magical Express works from Canada, since I'm leaving from Montreal on May 25th. Many of you shared positive experiences with ME from Canada or South America. I called Disney's line because I didn't receive any documents by mail yet, and I know I was supposed to receive tags for my luggage and some transportation vouchers. The CM on the phone told me the Magical Express service is not well adapted for international guests, that I won't be receiving anything since I'm leaving from Canada and that I'll have to carry my luggages myself to the Magical Express counter in Orlando airport (even if I already went through customs in Montreal). It's not really a problem, my husband and I don't mind carrying our luggages, but I just thought I'd share this experience just in case any of you are traveling soon from somewhere outside the U.S.

That seems strange. I have used ME quite a few times in the past couple of years and have received the documents that are sent out. When I have booked close to my arrival date (within a couple of weeks) I haven't gotten anything. But anything longer than that I have.

I always leave from Detroit so I don't have any experience in that situation but I would call again and speak to someone else. Many times, some cast members don't know what they're talking about!

My guess is that I might receive the paperwork for ME early next week, just before I leave...I think the CM didn't really know what to tell me, I think he was trying to explain that you have more chances of having problems with ME if you're from outside the U.S... But he still checked and confirmed that my flying info was in the system. I'll keep your advice in mind and try calling again next week.

I'd say call again now... Then they'd still have time to mail you something in case they haven't. My stuff arrived here in Rio de Janeiro in 5 days. I guess it would take less time to get in Canada... So, if I were you I'd call them now, maybe this CM knows what to tell you! Good luck!!

The key thing to do is call DME (866-599-0951) rather than the main Disney number. The CMs working at the DIsney Reservations Center are experts in resorts, park admission media, and dining, but they aren't experts in anything else. The DME CMs are experts in DME procedures.

If you clear Customs in Canada, then you can get the exact same DME automatic luggage delivery as I do. Period. No doubt about it. You can call DME and ask for yourself ....
