MCO Airport Hotel

Wanted to get some opinions on this idea. In the beginning stages of planning a trip this October. Our flight would not arrive until 9:50 pm. I hate to pay Disney hotel rates when getting in that late. Has anyone booked a room at the Hyatt at the airport before? Was thinking we could stay there for the night, and have car service pick us up early next morning to WDW.

Thinking of staying at the WL, so this would be about half the room rate saved if we did so.

Well, first of all - Let's go Cubbies!

Next, for me it wouldn't be a matter of going to sleep in a cheaper place. It would be about waking up already in the middle of the "magic." WL isn't inexpensive by any means, so I'd have to ask myself if saving $150ish off of a trip that costs thousands of dollars was really worth it.

You have to go through the hassle of getting to your resort and getting settled either way. I'd rather get it over with and wake up ready to go the first morning of my trip.

Plus if you stay at the airport, you'll have to claim your luggage, unpack, settle in for the night, get up, repack, haul your luggage down to the car, unload the luggage, get set up at the WL and THEN begin the fun part of your trip. :)

Totally agree. Not to mention if you wait to check into your Disney Hotel the next day, you won't get a room right away & will have to leave all your luggage will bell service & then wait to get settled into your room. If you check in the night you arrive you can go to room, unpack & get everything ready for your first day in the parks! We're going in September & we are arrive late Friday evening. We usually fly in early Saturday morning but this is such a hassle since you have to get up early & wait for your room once you check in. But with this next trip we decided (even my mother who is going for her first time) that we'd rather pay an extra night & wake up refreshed Saturday morning ready to go. But this will work for us.

Enjoy! Hope you have a great trip!

and check in is late... so yes, its worth it if you want to max out your first day in the parks

If you really want to save money just stay at a Value Resort. At least you will still be on Disney property and they can move your bags for you so you don't need to rush in the morning.

MCO hotel -- not worth it. You will find that adding a single night of hotel to your resort stay is not much different than paying for the night at the hotel at the airport....

Call Disney reservations, tell them the situation, and you will find it's almost the same to add the late night arrival overnight to your package...

As to the hotel at the airport itself, it's fine -- big, clean, serviceable. You also have at your disposal all of the MCO shops, restaurants, and food court.

Don't read into that -- there is no special rate for late night arrival....but if you call Disney, ask to add the extra night to your package (IF THEY CAN), they can do it at less-than-rack rate....I don't want anyone to think they have any kind of special late-arrival rate...I am specifically talking about adding a night...

Agree, not worth the hassle. If you stay at a value resort one night, you can pack a change of clothes, toothbrush and paste in a tote bag. This way you do not have to dig in your luggage until you are in your desired resort. Enjoy your trip.

I completely understand where you are coming from. We have considered this option in the past, but always decided to check in at Disney in order to start our trip right away the next morning. I like the option of checking into a Value for the night. We have split our stay during a trip, or had to add a night due to weather delays and been forced to change Disney hotels. They are very helpful (moving the luggage, etc); you go to the park then return to the new hotel: easy! In addition, you can check out another property. That's how we discovered that we did NOT like AKL, but did like WL. You may want to check out one of the mods (we recently stayed at CSR: it was wonderfu: now we stay there rather than Deluxe and save lots of $!).
