I agree! I would get the Large Fries over by Splash Mountain and it was a great snack to hold them over until dinner..... One the managers at the MD told us they left because Disney got almost all of the profits and it was just for advertising. They still have the one next to All Star Resort but the prices are much higher than the one just outside of Downtown Disney and the one at ASR has no dollar menu!!!

I found a bunch of articles from 2006 this one is from the LA Times

"Disney is not renewing its cross-promotional pact with the fast-food giant, ending the arrangement with this summer's release of "Cars" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." One reason, say multiple high-ranking sources within Disney, is that the company -- which prides itself on being family friendly -- wants to distance itself from fast food and its links to the epidemic of childhood obesity."

Or McDonald's didn't fork out enough cash. Convenient reason to end it. Last I checked almost all chicken served in kids meals are still fried, real healthy.

They were a corporate partner. Theyve since parted ways ever since Disney went on a "healthier" kick.

Or course lord knows how a turkey leg or pork shank is healthy.....

I'm actually glad McDonalds is gone (well only 1 left near All star resorts) I think it lowers the name and it's just not what I want to eat on vacation. Plus I don't like chain companies setting up in WDW. so starbucks will be one that I won't really like

Technically, you never "had" to eat there. Of course, there were plenty of people who did. They always were busy; I never remember McDonald's not being busy at any WDW location.

It left for a variety of reasons including financial disagreements between McDonald's and Disney (and I think it had less to do with health). I mean, Starbucks isn't really "good for you", but Disney still let them in. I think McDonald's pulled out more than Disney forcing them out. The profit margin for them is lower than Starbucks, so I'm willing to bet they just did the math and it wasn't worth it for them when they have locations close by. Now the markup for Starbucks is huge, so it seems more natural for them to work out well at Walt Disney World. Plus, most people will agree that McDonald's doesn't have the best food while Starbucks is probably the best at what they do. It makes sense (why Starbucks is working for Disney while McDonald's didn't) when you think about it.

The only one I really remember and that I ate at was at DTD. It was always busy too. I'm glad they're gone, what a great escape from the real world!

While Disney announced they were ending their partnership over "healthier living" it has zero to do with the real reason -- which is, if you want your corporate presence in the parks, you are going to pay for it. McDonalds didn't need the brand recognition to fork over hundreds of millions each year just to sell their fries in the parks. End of story.

Wasn't there also a McDonald's at Disney's California Adventure? I remember reading about that somewhere...

Yep it was Called Burger Invasion..It sits right where Boardwalk Pizza is now in Paradise Park

I don't miss them at all. I can get fast food anywhere else I care to outside of WDW and truthfully have not eaten at McDonalds except for a Southwest Chicken salad since they posted calorie counts on their menus here in Pennsylvania about six months ago.
