My neighbor loves his Tesla. On long trips he puts his car on autopilot , he tilts his driver seat and takes a nap for a few hours.
Yeah... I wouldn't autopilot while napping. Tesla has a habit of beta-testing features on paying customers.

You seem to feel that the gasoline powered cars are no longer "modern" and should fade away. Most Americans prefer gas powered cars and so do I. I don't pretend to be as knowledgeable as you...but my opinion aligns with more people than does yours.

One guy Elon Musk a visionary and not surprisingly one of the richest people on the planet put his imprint on EVs now and moving forward. It will be interesting what he will be doing in the next 4 years.

I'm certainly open to purchasing one "some day". Surely EVs will continue to improve.

EVS and gas powered cars can co exist. Me personally will stick to gas as I have family that live far away and EV just don't have the range. As far as EV being more environmentally friendly I have my doubts. Lithium still has to be mined and used batteries still have to be disposed of. Everything has a cost --mans existence is environmentally unfriendly

Yes.

No.

Most Americans prefer choice. They have a choice, and no one is taking it away.

This is a discussion about cars, not an election. I could care less what other people want when it comes to how I spend my money.

A reasonable argument. Let's not pretend that ICE cars are environmentally friendly - drilling for oil, transporting it, refining it. Not to mention we already have batteries with Cobalt (LFP) - meanwhile gasoline refining requires a lot of cobalt. Heck, where do you think the iron in your car's engine block came from?

With an EV, there is actually a possibility of it reaching carbon neutrality - something that no ICE car will ever achieve.

However, I didn't buy mine for any environmental argument: I bought it because it's a practical SUV that's as comfortable as a Cadillac, as fast as a Ferrari, and costs as much to run as a Vespa. Seriously, find me any other car that'll drive 1000 miles for $40.

This was a Mazda thread. I regret I was an active participant in changing the thread's focus. I will no longer discuss EVs. If I ever post on this thread again it will be focused on Mazdas
