My wife's 2016 Honda Accord has been problem free for 8 years.
I am impressed and that's why I took a wild stab at what I might consider in three years from now.
That's good. One of our vehicles is also a 16' Accord. Only issues was dead battery within first year replaced under warranty. This year was a almost a $2K repair for complete parking break fix due to having to use the parking break every time car is in park for the last 8 years due to manual transmission . Other than that it is just regular maintenance and new brakes, tires .

Thanks for your response.
We have an automatic transmission.
Have a great night!

I disagree to a great extent.

Mazda's engineering was what kept 4-cyl Fords somewhat reliable and fun to drive. When they let Mazda go, they let go of that culture.

Now Mazda is the one winning awards for reliability and being "driver focused", while Ford issues recall after recall.

And our CX-5 is the best crossover we've ever owned, and one of the best overall cars we've ever owned.
What year, how many miles?

Agree! I love my 2016 cx5. It’s got over 110k on it and I’ve never had to do anything beyond the recommended maintenance.

My only grip is that Mazda keeps pestering me to buy back my car. It’s paid off and I plan on driving it for many more years. 🤞

I have a 2022 Honda Passport. It’s fine - kind of boring - but fine. Needs a better stereo. There’s a dealer here who doubles the mfg warranty on the drivetrain.

Before that, I leased a Toyota RAV4. Loved it. Lease ran out during Covid when there was nothing on the lot. Don’t like the new ones as well as my 2018.

I’ve always liked Mazdas. Always wanted an Rx-7. Had an MX3, I think, and then an MPV for many years and miles. Tried to replace the MPV and got 2 used duds in a row. Thats what got me leasing the Toyota.

Wouldn’t mind something a little more luxury, but this Honda cost as much as my mom’s first house in Union, NJ.

Never had a Mazda when we bought our 2005 Ford Escape we considered the Mazda (basically the same) The Ford Escape has been the best car we ever had not one recall, not one problem. Wife wanted new car went with Honda CRV. Escape 125000 miles on it is going to my son and his wife. She has a Ford Focus piece of junk 3 transmission fixes in 4 years--just a matter of time before it breaks again ---so bad there was a class action suit against Ford --they won Ford lost.

Good for you, but 110,000 miles really isn't many miles these days.

I tend to keep vehicle forever had an dodge Dakota 1989 382,000 miles --engine just wore out, 2006 Dakota has 179,000 still running strong. In the process of doing little body work on the bed and will repaint it, put a new tailgate on. Just replaced all the brakes. Do all the work myself always been a grease monkey Ha Ha

I had a chuckle as well... I have a 1990 Ford F-150 with 485,000 miles on it. Straight six with a manual transmission.

Guess what had to be rebuilt twice. The crappy Mazda gearbox Ford put into that truck. Kept spinning bearings.

Imagine that, a 34 year old gearbox with nearly half a million miles needing a rebuild.

Well the Ford 300 I6 didn't need a rebuild.
I’m genuinely surprised. The M50D is known to be reliable, as long as you keep fluid in it. But I haven’t heard of any with as many miles as yours.

Maybe 200k miles is the service life? I mean, that’s right about the life expectancy of most cars sold in the US (12 years/200k miles)

In Cuba it is a whole different scene. Cars from the 1950s/60s still on the road a number of them daily drivers.

They’re a hodgepodge of whatever parts are available. When I went, I did a “tourist taxi”, it was a 50s Plymouth with a Nissan engine and an ex-Soviet transmission.

Like I said, well past their service life.

Well past service life but still on the road decade after decade.
