May or September?

So I'm weighing my options for my hopefully (fingers crossed guys) 2016 trip to Disney. Now I'm going to start a new job in a couple of months when I'm out of school at hopefully a hospital but since idk how they work yet with vacations well....anyway I'm getting off topic lol. What would you guys recommend May or September? If you've gone during these times please share your experience ie weather, crowds, specials (ex flower and garden or DDP)
Please and thank you!

Never been in May (have been in June). I have been in September, and honestly it's my favorite time to go. It's hot, but it's not wicked bad. The fact that you can do both MNSSHP and F&W in September makes it the perfect time. Crowds are pretty light, we never had any real waits. We did do SWW in June when went(which you could do in May) and it was awesome, but I'd still take MNSSHP over it.

September is the better time. May has Spring Breaks and larger crowds (or so I've heard). September is slower, quieter, free DDP often, and the weather is cooler. Though not cooler by much (80's). We prefer September, but the Love Bugs are awful sometimes.

I went in September starting labor day weekend and staying a few days after, about 3 and a half years ago and yes it was warm, but not as warm as when I have gone in July or early August. I did not notice the love bugs. Crowds were not bad on labor day and thereafter. July and August and of course Christmas crowds are awful, which is why I stopped going at those times. I am going for the first time in May, May 13th so I will let you know how May goes. I went once in March and once in April, not during Easter, and those times were pretty good, and the weather was great.

What are love bugs? Lol I feel like an amateur! I've only gone in June and yes the crowds are crazy and THE HEAT! I think it's hot and that's that I'm from south Texas. Oooo I was wondering when Food and Wine began.

If the second week in May next year is like the second week in May this year, you could go during the last week of the Flower and Garden Festival (i.e. "Food and Wine lite") and the 1st Star Wars Weekend. That's what I'm doing this year, May 12-18.

As has been stated, you have the Food and Wine Festival and MNSSHP in September.

There are discounts during both periods and are good times to go with lower (for Disney) crowds and cooler weather being in the spring and fall. I just think it's a matter of what you want to do and which time works best for your schedule. Good luck!

Love bugs are not this but this. They are completely harmless to people, meaning they don't sting or bite. But they come out like a plague of locusts every May and September to breed. Males and females attach themselves to each other, hence the name. They might do more harm to your car's paint job than to you if you don't stop regularly to wipe them off not to mention using a gas stations's squeegie to get them off your windshield. They're just an extreme annoyance especially driving along the Interstate as they collect on your windshield and the front of your car.

Hahaha thank you for the pictures. I actually did imagine the Herbie love bug:D:p or something more along the lines of a lady bug.

Th dates I usually go every year is late May and September. I will say this crowd wise may is terrible towards the end of the month. It's also very hot. Mid to late September though the crows are amazingly small. I walk on every ride, no lines, and the weather towards late September is starting to get cooler, especially in the evenings.

You walk on in late September? Are we talking Figment or Fast pass plus, because we've never seen anything walk on after the 16th of September.

Well I didn't imagine it. With fast pass for popular rides and planning well, we barely waited in any line. Most lines had 10 min waits but were more like 2 mins to just walking on. We met characters with no lines, I remember my girls even spoke to aurora for what seemed like forever because there was no one else waiting. I remember I had a pic of frontier land near hunted mansion looking down the street and it was empty.

I'd go with September. Lot of people already said the same thing...Smaller Crowds, Halloween Party, Food & Wine, Discounts usually happen then.

I went in May last year when the 24 hour thing was going at MK and Star Wars. Loved it. Found crowds not as bad as July/August and definitely while very warm not as HOT and Humid as the summer months. Never been in September. I think the rates are lower for the resorts in Sept and often free dining is offered too

September is a good time to go with weather and crowds bc kids are going back to school. We've done th end if September the last 2yrs on the opening weekend if the f&w festival, the crowds pick up for that. As for May, I recommend not going during srptar wars week if your not a huge fan bc if the lines or late May bc school is out in some parts and it's summer. We like late April early may. Post spring break, pre-summer and the f&g festival is still going. Also great weather.

Who are these people who like September weather?! There was so much whining and complaining about the heat, humidity, and excessive rain on these boards this September. Crowds are certainly reduced, though. We've always enjoyed May. It's much less muggy and rainy than September and not much risk of hurricanes. It is certainly hot by Memorial Day, though.
