May crowd levels

We visited in mid May a few years ago, and crowd levels were moderate to light all week long. Wait times for most attractions was never more than 20 minutes, except for the big ticket ones, which if you use FASTPASS, are no big deal either.

When it gets closer to your travel dates (about a month out), you can check out touringplans.com for their Crowd Calendar predictions. In my experience they seem to overestimate the crowd levels in the off seasons, but of course your results may vary

Hope you have a great trip!

When we have gone during this time the crowds are moderate, with waits for the big rides, but you can get the fast pass. Don't stay until Memorial Day, the crowds sky rocket - it was so crazy when we were there one year we went back to our room and the pool. You could barely get down main street.

Have a great trip!

I have been there a few times in early May, and am going back this year at the same time. It's great, the crowds are usually nothing more than moderate, if that. Early in the mornings we had very little waits.

I think there's a Star Wars weekend May 21st-23rd, so crowds at DHS will be very busy then. I don't know how much busier that will make the other parks, but I'm sure someone else here can give more details about it.

We got married May 12th and were there for our honeymoon. It was awesome. Now we try to go for anniversayry every few years.....we go with the kids at Christmas and it is soooo crowded. Mid May is wonderful and we love the Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT. This year we are going May11th-16th and cannot wait!

We never waited long for anything in May!

Been many times during this tme of year. Will be there 14/22. Like others said, crowds typically aren't bad but the weekends get busy, especially on Mothers Day. It's a great time to be there.

I have been at the end of May twice, and once around the second week. Obviously, the earlier period is better. While the 20 minute posted wait is common, also know that Soarin, RnR, Splash, and E:E (amongst others) can get to 60 or more. Just use your CDS (Common Disney Sense) and the crowds are a non issue.

I'll be there to enjoy it myself 5/9!! Less than two months now!

my family and I have gone a number of times in early to mid may, some areas are still busy, but generally the lines for attractions are none or short.
I have always enjoyed going at this time of the year.

Went the 2nd week of May 2008 which wasn't too bad, not low like January but not horrible. It got busier as the weekend approached. I went the last week of May last year and it was buuuusy. Mind you, I don't go at Easter, Christmas, or the summer so to me it was awful. I took pics of the crowds because I had never seen it that way. Personally, if I couldn't go before that 2nd week ends I'd plan to use weekdays for a little park time but plan the majority of my time away from them.

But hey! It's Disney! You'll have a blast no matter what!

It looks like WDWMagic is going to be making its own crowd mid-May!!

Sweetpee's right, it does get much more crowded towards the end of May and Memorial Day.

We usually go the first week of May for our anniversary, but have gone as late as the week before Memorial Day, and what a difference in the crowds and the weather! Light crowds and perfect warm blue skies at the beginning of the month give way to heavier crowds and hot humidity towards the end.

All you guys, look out for my WDWMagic button from May 15-19, and if you see me, say hello! The button is usually attached to the strap of my backpack (it's a pocketbook, really, but has backpack straps--don't be looking for a big hiking-type backpack)

We will be there from May 1st to the 8th. I have heard the crowds will be light at that time. With two young kids our rule is we won't wait in any line longer than 20 minutes, so it shouldn't be a problem. Can't wait!

I am heading out there myself in May. Going the 17th-24th. I am a former Cast Memeber and this is the best time to go to get the feel of summer and with lighter crowds.

The humidity is just starting kick in but its not too bad. Also no hurrican issues at this time. May is a good month to go as long as you stay away from memorial day like others have sugested.

Is the Memorial Day crowd mainly locals coming for the "3 day weekend"? And I would assume MK draws the higher numbers on Memorial Day Monday?

We will be there weekend to weekend through Memorial Day and are trying to plan accordingly to avoid total chaos. Although it's Star Wars Weekends, we are actually choosing to go to DHS on one day of our first weekend because we have never seen the parade and such, after that though we are going to avoid the other weekend days during our trip. Our boys get out of school that last week in May and we wanted to beat the summer crowds (if possible). Our last trip we were there one week earlier than this one and we did not find the crowds terrible but then again we have been during Thanksgiving and New Year's as well.
