If they're ultimately going to bulldsoze 20k for something else. that it makes sense to spread out the cost of the project over a few fiscal years.

Besides a plot of trees is probably easier, and less costly to maintain than a huge lagoon. They must be operating some kind of pump and filter system to prevent that body of water from turning into a stagnant cespool.

Since the Matterhorn bob sleds look identical to the orginal space mountain shuttles, I had always figured that the Imagineers had just re-theamed the same ride system to help tie in WDW's tomorrowland to florida's space coast. Once the ride was so hugely successfuly, they copied its concept back to the other parks.

That's 100% right!!!
Also Disney can never get the rights for Harry Potter, nor do they want to. The US rights are tied up with Warner Bros. (save for the books that are owned by Scholastic) and can't be taken from them and I don't see the WB giving them over to Disney, don't forget AOL/Time/Warner hates Disney/ABC/Touchstone/Hollywood/Mirimax/Hyperion
as much as Viacom/Parmount/MTV/CBS.
(and no the only ony one who uses all their names on their letter head is AOL/Time/Warner)

I agree with SirNim. Since we are getting Expedition, we will MOST LIKELY ( Note I said Most, as in not 100 pecent ) not get the Matterhorn. Although, I have seen a computer generated ride through of Expedition ( Just the Track and the Mountain, no effects included ) and it is most definately NOT anything like the Materhorn. This is a High Impact thrill ride, and anyone who even dares to compare it to the tame, kiddie Matterhorn ( No offense, I love the Matterhorn ) should be forced to ride a Harry Potter attraction fror the rest of their lives:fork: . Besides, MK doen't really have a kiddie coaster ( not that the Matterhorn is wimpy, it's just a little more tame than other coasters) other than the bartnstomer, which only lasts about 3 or 4 seconds. We need a coaster a little kid can enjoy. So, in my mind, it may be quite possible that the Matterhorn may be coming to the Magic Kingdom. We'll just have to wait and see. . . . .

By the way, the Virtual Expedition is here:
http://homepage.mac.com/paulcmartens/iMovieTheater27.html
:sohappy:

that link doesn't work and I have never seen this virtual expedition everest so could someone please tell me the real link?

I'm a HUGE HP fan as well, but the Magic Kingdom is simply not the place for it!

But then, Power Rangers don't belong on Toon Disney. We can't trust the current Disney admin at all, I'm afraid.

Actually, Disney has various partnerships with Time Warner. On top of that, they dropped AOL from their name months ago. It's Time Warner, not AOL Time Warner. To say that Disney couldn't get the rights just is plain wrong. Disney will do anything... if the price is right. And anyone who's been on the matterhorn knows it's very different then space mountain.

Why the severe dislike for HP?

Was there such an uprising with Indy or Star Tours in DL MK?
IASW doesn't have any Disney movie characters, does that mean we have to take that out of Fantasyland too?

IASM characters ARE Disney character. This was originally by Walt Disney, just bc they weren't in movies doesn't really mean anything (though Epcot might be a better home for it, given its theme). The problem with HP is that these are specifically non-Disney characters, and that would be an affront to Disney's Fantasyland.

I didn’t know that Time/Warner dropped the AOL, I can only imagine why.

But you’re wrong about Disney getting the rights - Warner has them locked up and would never let them out or their slimy grip. Warner owns all likeness of the characters derived from their films and seeing that Warner owns various theme parks themselves and you could bet that any amusement park attraction based on HP (at least within the US) will be at a Six Flags. As to their “partnership” with Disney “limited” is the right word – the studios are rivals cut and dry Warner was forced to keep Disney on their cable systems by the government and just like Dreamworks most of their TV deals were in the works before Disney took over ABC. It would behoove Disney and Warner to join forces to keep Viacom (who is truly an evil media empire) in check, but there is so much bad blood between the two (mostly due to the crap Warner Cable pulled) that any major agreement would be unlikely at this point.

This may come as a surprise to you, but Time Warner doesn't own any parks in the US. And the ties between Time Warner and Disney go much farther back then you'd expect. Look at Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. Look at Time Warner Music. I mean, they've been partners for years in thousands of partnerships. And since Disney has the best theme parks in the country, I can easily see Disney getting the rights to build a Potter based ride, at least in the US parks. Heck, the music is already playing inside the Disney parks.

You know what would go good in 20,000 leagues spot? not so lame(rapids in ak) water ride. based on journey to atlantis or even worse litle mermaid. it could start out above the water then drop down into like an aquarium somewhat like the old living seas ride, some aspects of a dark ride with a dark water drop(like pirates only bigger/wetter) into the lighted undersea world. this would give you a new ride with some of the old things people liked about 20,000.

Glad to see someone else who agrees w/ me. I've been saying for years now that they should give the green light to the Little Mermaid underwater dark ride that's been on the Imaginears shelf for a long time.
