W H A T ! ? Matt was an asset to DL, and I was PRAYING he would come to WDW! WHY IS HE LEAVING? I'm not sure i believe this!!!

Yeah, when I read the title of this thread I thought "Oh great, he's finally coming to WDW." and then I realized he was leaving the company completely I was so disapointed. Let's just hope the new person coming in will do a great job, instead of just another Cynthia Harrisssssss or Paul Pressler. I'm sure with Greg Emmer still in charge, that shouldn't be a problem.

Ouimet is being replaced by the guy who has run operations at Tokyo Disneyland for the past 25 years. AWSOME! I wish someone from Tokyo would replac Al Weiss!

We need to keep in mind that even though ed will more than likely do a great job at DL in a way we might be suprised at what he does or doesnt do when he gets there. We compare DL to Disneysea and Tokyo DL but even though Disney controls the way it is run in many ways it is owned by another company -not Disney.Oriental Land Company doesnt have any problems spending money on making things the way they should be and they dont take short cuts.I hope that Ed does well and luckily he is coming in after a great guy like Matt who really left DL in the best shape it has been in for a long time.:sohappy:

I'm going to miss Matt. He was such a nice guy on my last trip out to DLR. My friends and I ran in to him while walking in the park and I sent him and Outlook when I got back. He was the nicest person and took the time out of the day to talk to us as fellow Cast. He will be greatly missed. Quoting Matt when he dedicated the Cast Member window on Main Street; "To all who have worked this happy place, thank you." Thank you Matt.

I'm sure Matt would love for you to stay at the Walt Disney World Swan or Dolphin.

Yes, yes he would. And he'll still have ties with Disney in regards to our properties as well. (And expect him to be hear soon.)

Best of luck to him as he's now my boss, and best of luck to Disneyland with what will happen there!

Does Starwood have an ownership interest in the Swan and Dolphin, Woody?

Paul

Paul, we're not a Disney hotel. We're owned by Starwood. The Swan is a Westin by name and the Dolphin is a Sheraton by name. The only thing we have with Disney, is the multi-million dollar check we pay each year for rent.

Outlook meaning internal company e-mail but from an outsider, yes, an e-mail. Just used to the lingo here.
Oh, yeah... no, its just weird. I've seen that at other companies too, it baffles me, because "Outlook" is the Microsoft email client. So its kind of like Sen. Ted Stevens talking about his staff sending him "an internet" (which as we all know, is a series of tubes).
I had a friend who talked about sending me a "Lotus Note" instead of an email, because her company used Lotus Notes as their internal email client, and the staff reffered to email that way. I had some trouble explaining it to her.

Sorry, I work in IT and its just fascinating to see how people think about technology. (for the record, CEO's are the worst!)

The Swan and Dolphin resorts are now owned by Starwood but are managed by the Tishman Hotel Corporation. Tishman also operates the Hilton resort in DTD. Tishman Construction Corporation (TCC) built EPCOT. As a reward for their great work, the Disney Company gave Tishman an option to build and operate several hotels on WDW property. Come this September, the Swan and Dolphin will have just completed a long renovation project (5 years I think).

As WDWScottieBoy knows, they are very nice hotels, although you don't get all the regular WDW amenities. The Hilton at DTD gets all the amenities but one, WDW bus transportation. <O:p</O:p

Much agreed. As a former IT person myself, I see where you are coming from. Just get used to saying the lingo around you.
