I’m far from a Disney employee pushing some agenda. (I know. That’s what a Disney plant would say) lol
I’m a 37 year old attorney that lives with his boyfriend in the Seattle area. I don’t own any Disney stock and have no financial interests with the company. I’ve lurked on these boards for awhile now.
I don’t have the *fire Chapek, drag Iger into the streets* mentality. Yes. There are lots of us out here but we stay pretty quiet. I tend to support moves by companies that many don’t, if it shows to be effective. Yes. Sometimes they need to cut employees and cut back on entertainment to save some money for a bit, but if those moves bring us an E Ticket down the road I’m all for it.

Ok. So thanks for the explanation.

You may be Disney’s most prototypical modern customer. I can’t agree with you here but I look forward to hearing your thoughts on other topics.

I guess I don't understand the blind brand loyalty of the typical Disney fan. I have stock in Disney but I'm not going to jump up and down and cheering that they made x billions this year when I see the bigger picture of how they eroded the brand and fired a lot of people just so my stock when up a few points. I know it will all come crashing down very soon. I don't cheer for any corporation. It seems juvenile.

There’s a growing segment of people that seem to have self soothed themselves into thinking the economy in the US is “recession proof”. Many write for Forbes or fortune.

That mentality is evident here...and it’s wrong. Nobody is really paying attention. We just as a society have lost our ability to deal with the possibility/inevitability of harsh times. So we deny their existence and it bleeds into everything.

Name one product in the history of mankind that had an unlimited potential for price increases?

Not to mention all the money they re wasting on stuff that isn’t really moving the needle like Pixar Pier, MB, and a 1/2 baked Star Wars Land. With the money they spent on these 3 projects alone they could be making even more had they invested in the right kind of attractions/ lands. But they keep putting short term goals in front of long term. Not understanding their brand and what made them giants in the first place.

While the price increases may lower attendance levels, the increased revenue from the price increase surpasses the loss from attendance drops. It also self selects the customers by setting a higher bar to attend, you tend to get a customer with access to more cash and is willing to spend more on food, lavish hotels, and merchandise.

Less people make more money? I don't believe it and they don't either.

I’ll never get it. Why are we begging for them to keep charging more?

If it means an improved experience I'm all for it. Paying what they charge only to face endless waits under the hot sun for something I've experienced many times over is not my idea of a good time or a good value.

Typically it doesn't mean an improved experience. It just means a less experience for more money.

I have my phone in my face more than I care to admit but when I do I’m sitting at home. I hate what the phone does to the park experience. The time and effort saved walking isn’t worth the cost having your phone in your face all day and what that does to the overall park experience.

You're fine with a company making record profits, even if they sell you a lesser, more expensive product to hit those numbers?

You need not reply, I already know your answer. Just something for others to think about.
With most everything i purchase i evaluate the value i get for what i spend. The profit margin of who i am purchasing from is not a part of my evaluation process.

I was talking about fewer crowds as the result of price increases.

oh. That’s always welcome. This past summer up until a couple weeks ago almost reminded me of the good old days when I was kid. The crowds were pretty unbearable from the the 60th through pretty much last Spring.

My thing is if they re going to increase prices then don’t cut staffing and entertainment at the same time. Their have been stories of people waiting an hour at security on only moderately busy days. That’s not right. I experienced it once a couple months ago where I was sent you to the 6th floor of the Parking structure and not only were their any (or many) spaces there wasn’t a CM in sight. People just kept doing circles around the lot. Another time I was waiting in very long security lines when at least 4 or 5 of the security stations were empty. To raise prices and simultaneously cut on things like that is not cool.

The higher you price a product the easier you make it for any competition to encroach your turf. It's a tough balance to maintain.

So far it is succeeding. The ripple effects will continue to ufold as a good portion of fans regularly have trips in mind or booked 1 to 2 years out. Backlash may slowly unfold. Will we choose a WDW vacation for 10k or do two 5k trips elsewhere? Disney is a superior experience but people may decide an experience 85% as good is more attractive when it's also 50% the cost.
