Hi, Mouseketeers!
We're here to report on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! We attended last Friday, October 7th. We went as the original Mouseketeers from the first season, which was especially cool since that week was the fiftieth anniversary of the first episode of the Mickey Mouse Club!
We had sixteen Mouseketeers and others . . . what a group! And do we have a bunch to report to you. . . MNSSHP was better than EVER this year - wait till you see it!

Welcome to the Mouseke-factory! This is us working hard on our costumes a little while ago.
pic1164or.jpg

pic1252nm.jpg

Here are Ryland and I being super excited the first time we tried on our costumes!

pic1365vn.jpg

Ryland's dad, testing out the Mouseke-ears.
pic1560xb.jpg

We began at Downtown Disney - as is typical this time of year, there are random sudden showers. See this downpour behind Caitlin. We waited it out in the pin shop, and never saw another drop all night.
pic1615fd.jpg

Approaching the Magic Kingdom - Mickey pumpkins! The pumpkins that used to sit up there were just plain ones, slightly lighter orange. Now we have Mickey pumpkins! Yay!
*By the way, if you're still planning to attend a MNSSHP this year and are not attending the park that day, they DO begin letting you in the park at 4:00 PM even though the event doesn't officially start until 7. Take advantage of this time! It is the least crowded time and can be pretty fun while the day's crowd is ushered out.
pic1662jk.jpg

On the way in, we were stopped by this CM who works on Jungle Cruise. He arranged us boys and girls and conducted us in a rousing round of the Mickey Mouse Club theme song. Hilarious! What a great start to the evening - it really got us in the festive mood. The CMs at this event were SO MUCH FUN! Not a cranky CM in sight. Little did we know, this was only the beginning of the singing we would do. . .
pic1678ge.jpg

Outside at the TTC is a cute little ad for the party. Notice it says tickets available. . . at this point, no nights were yet sold out. Halloween night has since sold out completely.
pic1699xd.jpg

Right before walking up the monorail ramps, there are some cuuuuute little displays to get you into the mood even more. When we came back through here at night, we were delighted to see white twinkle lights amongst the fall leaves! Here I am, getting more excited by the minute!
pic1723ad.jpg

By this time it was about 4:30, so they were beginning to warn regular park guests that they would be ushered out by 6pm, and they mean it. This year, however, they did not herd the MNSSHP into any specific land to wait. Much fun! This allowed us some private time (or so it seemed) in the park. So it did close promptly at six - but not for us!!!
pic1735hn.jpg

Are you excited yet??? SOOOO much more to come! Stay tuned!

You guys made my experience all the more amazing.
The second me and my friends walked down Main Street around 6ish, we were greeted by the original mickey mouse club skipping down the street, unforgettable!

Can't wait for the update!

Here's Mouseketeer Jeremy (who recognizes him from the boards???) practicing his Mouseketeer roll call salute! You've gotta really play the part!
pic1835cq.jpg

Entering the Magic Kingdom, this cheery little sign informed us that there were still tickets available for that night - for purchase in Guest Services. Being early in the month, there were still plenty of tickets. The closer to Halloween, the fewer the tickets available.
pic1943cc.jpg

We got a couple of feet and stopped to listen to the firemen's band. They were playing a Jungle Book song, and King Louie here was dancing. When they finished that song, Louie saw us and came running with his arms out! He dragged us over to the firemen. . .
pic1951hw.jpg

*It is at this point that I say, in case you're counting, not all the Mouseketeers were present at this point. We caught up with the others later. Also, you should note that these are all theatre people, which explains the need to sing and dance.
So. . . they began to play the Mickey Mouse Club theme song again. So we sang. Again!
pic1965fa.jpg

Then, this firemen (not with instrument) shouted "kickline!!!!" Who could resist that?!? Certainly not King Louie. . . of course we're still singing at this point.
pic1980bn.jpg

And for good measure, we sang it AGAIN! Firemen says "I can't hear you!" Pllleeeease. Miami could probably hear us.
It was at this point that Claire took out a notepad and made columns: one to count how many times we sing the theme song, one to count how many times someone asked where Annette was, one to count how many asked where Cubby was (the answer to both was "Stuck on I-4!"), and one to count the number of times we did a roll call (everytime we went through a turnstile).
pic2016wd.jpg

Here are some of the decorations - I wish I had this same picture at night - I love the giant luminaries! Such a nice orange glow. One reason I really love this event is the extra special magic touches with the theming.
pic2021ex.jpg

We made it maybe another five feet, and these CMs were politely ushering the day's guests out to the side. They were holding these signs - as if that wasn't a song cue! So we stopped. . . and sang. Again. This time it was the goodbye song: "M-i-c . . .see ya real soon. . . k-e-y. . . " you get the picture. So much fun to see people's faces as they walked past! Some took pictures. I guess it's kindof a rare opportunity!
pic2052gf.jpg

This is skipping ahead a little, but we saw this lovely lady outside Haunted Mansion - the makeup was new. We wondered if she was going to be in the later parade. Similar makeup was seen then. Still, in the daylight, that's pretty creepy. "Hi, ma'am. . . um, wanna. . . trade. . . p-p-p-pins?"

pic2094wx.jpg

More to come! Stay tuned, Mouseketeers!

Alrighty. Since we were there during the transition period, we were able to witness some of the special decorations going up. We followed the decorating committee down Main Street and watched them put these up over the Cinderellabration banners. Aren't these cute?! Notice the new Hallowishes logo prominently featured.

This fine fellow is on his way to set up a Goofy's Candy Co. balloon to signal a trick-or-treat station in Liberty Square. Don't look for the green balloons you're used to - these are Goofy's Candy Co balloons. Everything this year at MNSSHP that has anything to do with candy is all Goofy's Candy Co, presumably, of course, to advertise the new Goofy's Candy Co. in Downtown Disney. Convenient, eh?
pic2105wn.jpg

Back down Main Street, we were on our way to meet some of our other Mouseketeers - stopped for a potty break, and ended up singing again. Piano man (what's his name? help me out, I can't remember. . . I'm so ashamed!) broke into Mickey Mouse Club theme song, so we SANG! AGAIN! (Take out the tally sheet, Claire!) The more we did it, the funnier it got.
pic2126xy.jpg

Ohhh these fellows are priceless. I loved that Pan was wearing tights. Seriously, folks, hear this. IF YOU ARE GOING AND YOU ARE AN ADULT, DON'T BE AFRAID TO DRESS UP! It is soooo much fun and I promise you will have a ton more fun if you dress up. Don't think that "ohhh no other 'big kids' will dress up!" because they WILL! Don't chicken out! You'll thank me later.
pic2155gh.jpg

Over in ToonTown, it was very Halloween. See the Spiderweb gobo on the sign, and the two pumpkin Mickeys to each side. Cuuute!
pic2170yq.jpg

If you were following the thread about more candy this year at MNSSHP, THEY WEREN'T KIDDING!!! This is by far the most candy they've ever had. Soooo much candy. The pathway from ToonTown to Tomorrowland became Alice's Trick-or-treat Trail (or something to that effect). Alice and friends were all along the path for meet and greet, and every few feet there was another candy station. MAN! Look at all that candy. Seriously. We didn't actively pursue the trick-or-treating, and we ended up with a load of candy each.
pic2184oj.jpg

This is my favorite picture of all from the new Hallowishes fireworks display. It is not to be missed! It's all new this year and so exciting! It's nice to hear so much Nightmare Before Christmas. If you'd like to see more, see Ryland's complete video of the fireworks, go here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=63879&page=1&pp=15

Boy oh boy.
So here's the cliffhanger. Apparently all our marching and singing got us noticed. So when we got off of Buzz, our group was approached and asked to be GRAND MARSHALLS of the second BOO TO YOU PARADE!
What an opportunity! More on that to come, including photos from the top of the double-decker bus with the Mouseketeers!

Stay tuned!

Now we're getting into a special segment!
There were a couple of other families who were also to be Grand Marshalls. We were instructed to wait in an offstage area next to Splash Mountain (that's another new thing this year - the parade runs from Frontierland to Main Street instead of Main Street to Frontierland, which I think it did last year if I'm not mistaken).
Here we are waiting backstage:
pic2384zt.jpg
i

This one's kindof dark, but as we were waiting, the Headless Horseman trotted by to get ready to ride through the parade route. We would follow right behinf him. If you ask me, he is the scariest part of the entire event.
By the way, that is the BIGGEST horse I've ever seen.
pic2451hg.jpg

The Mouseketeers were assigned to the top level of the double-decker bus to ride in the front of the parade - I've never experienced anything like this before. Here they file up the stairs:
pic2487js.jpg

Smile, Mouseketeers! Fifteen out of sixteen rode in the parade. By this time we had sung the theme song 44 times.
pic2497zb.jpg

The man Ryland and there's that Jeremy again! Anybody recognize him?
pic2520zj.jpg

Here are the Mouseke-parents! Ryland's mom and dad got to ride with us too.
pic2537cs.jpg

The view from the top of the bus: Goofy's Candy Co. CMs wave to us backstage before the parade began.
pic2548lb.jpg

Mouseketeer logo overload!
pic2567qf.jpg

We sang sang sang our way through the parade - now up to singing the song 53 times. What fun!!! Mouseketeer Roll Call! Look for a video from this perspective coming soon, I hope, from Ryland. Maybe this weekend!
pic2659qu.jpg

We unloaded near the fire station where Mark, our parade coordinator who invited us to be Grand Marshalls, told us what a great job we did! We were hopping up and down with excitement! I never knew they did Grand Marshalls for the Boo to You parade. News to me, but what an opportunity!
pic2690wn.jpg

Hang on tight, still more to come!

Where did you get the Mickey Mouse Club iron-ons??? Did you buy them or print them yourselves?

We printed them ourselves. Ryland had to re-create the logo, because believe it or not most things with that logo read "Mickey Mouse Club" and very few said "Mouseketeers." It took more research and work than you might imagine!

Whew! Wasn't that exciting!?!?
After we got off the bus, we sat at the end of the parade route. It took the parade a while to get to us. (If you have the opportunity to go to the second parade, DO IT! It really is so much less crowded and you get more attention from characters and candy-giving CMs.) The CMs in our neck of the woods were SO SILLY! Hats off to them for being so cute at the end of a long day. This is Crystal, cradling her beloved Cheshire Cat hat:
pic2727ab.jpg

I don't remember this CMs name, but he took the liberty of photographing himself on my camera.
pic2735dy.jpg

We spared you the posting of parade pictures, since pretty much the whole thing has already been posted from the preview runs. But please adore Mickey in his jester costume below. . .
However, I was hoping there would be a Mickey beanie in this costume and maybe a Minnie in the witch costume, like they usually do, exclusive to MNSSHP event. Sadly, all there was was Stitch in a pumpkin! Blech! Mickey looked so cute, but no beanies to be found.
pic2802eq.jpg

There were two nighttime Cinderellabrations (so much prettier at night!) but after that, the Villains took to the stage in a show hosted by D.J. BB Wolf (or Big Bad Wolf, as you may know him). See Queen of Hearts, Cruella, Wicked Queen, Maleficent, Hook, etc. They must have moved VERY fast, because we'd just seen them in the parade! This is a little blurry, but they danced:
pic3218iu.jpg

And then poof! It became a meet and greet. Here comes BB Wolf with his red hot escorts.
pic3233as.jpg

The Villains met in front of the forecourt stage to greet. What a nice surprise! We thought it was just going to be a show!
pic3261yp.jpg

Later in the night, they really cranked up the fog. It made all the lighting effects look that much more amazing. Pictures REALLY do not do it justice, but see a little of the nice aura it gave the Partners statue:
pic3287sc.jpg

It was incredibly foggy but it looked so amazing, and really added to the ambience. I think they waited until after Hallowishes to fire it up heavily, though, so as not to obstruct the view of the fireworks.
pic3338ow.jpg

Ryland and I stopped for a break in front of good old Mr. Jefferson's house. He had pumpkins and hay bales all over his steps!
pic3351yy.jpg

The hitchhiking ghosts were set up for a photo op right outside the Haunted Mansion. Creepy! They glow in the dark, and are pretty blacklight responsive.
pic3361ot.jpg

Can you believe there's still more? Oh yes folks! Just a minute!

Alright, last but not least I want to share some of the nicer details about the MNSSHP event.
This sign was inside the castle breezeway. I only noticed it from a distance because all the eyes glow in the dark and are reflective. I think it's pretty cool, don't you? And a little scary!
pic3410ws.jpg

Following are a few shots from Main Street. Most of them are blurry, but we hardly ever stopped moving and to get these we had to use the night setting. It still gives you a nice feel for some of the lighting effects and mood. This one's my favorite (currently my laptop wallpaper). It's Main Street, facing the (under rehab) train station. There go those Mouseketeers again!
pic3448dl.jpg

If you look closely at the windows of the Emporium, you can see the Jack-o-lanterns in each window. Some of them are pretty scary!
pic3484vd.jpg

This is a pretty nice shot, by Ryland. Look! Ghostey people!
pic3508ar.jpg

This was taken in Uptown Jewelers. Ryland insists that something is missing, but I'm not even sure which wall this is - I wasn't there at the time. Could it be the giant mirrory display case? Is something up that I don't know about?
pic3559ph.jpg

This is the view of the train station, etc, as we were exiting a little after 12:30. I love how it keeps up the spooky-but-fun feel all the way out of the park. That balloon wasn't there when we entered the park - sneaky!
pic3604sw.jpg

And finally, as we left, this HUGE pumpkin Mickey bade us adieu. (No more giant Madame Leota from years past). He wasn't there when we came in either. Check out adorable little Tink and Star Wars boys! Awwww!
pic3623ih.jpg

Well, Mouseketeers, that's all I have to offer you for right now. I hope you were as excited as I am to see all the MNSSHP stuff. Thanks for indulging me in an incredibly long post. To sum up, we had a TOTAL BLAST! It was amazing. The Grand Marshall thing really put it over the top, along with all the marching and singing.
If any of you have an opportunity to go, DO IT! You'll soooo love it.
Hope to see you again soon, Mouseketeers.
"M-i-c. . . See ya real soon!k-e-y. . . Why? Because we like you! M-o-u-s-e!"

Great pics.....looks like you guys had a ton of fun...I can see myself and my friends doing that if we lived closer!

One question, where did you get your trick or treat pumpkin with the Mickey ears. Were they selling them there, or did you make it? It doesn't look to hard to recreate, just some purchased ears, yellow paint, and a plastic pumpkin....but if they're selling them someplace, I need to have one!
Thanks!
