Marvel Comics stuff at World of Disney

Hulk, Storm Force and Dr Doom could all probably be rethemed without too much trouble. But then there's Spiderman, which would require an extensive overhaul. It's all hypothetical anyway, nothing's going to happen in the near future.

I saw Mr. Potatoe Heads with Iron Man 2 themed attachments. They were also selling comics, graphic novels, and other books on the Marvel Universe.

And they had Spidey Action figures.

If Universal cared enough they would probably re-theme them rather than replace them. Similar to when Cedar Fair bought our local Six Flags park, the Superman and Batman coasters became Steel Venom and Dominator.
Great Adventure in NJ did the same thing with one coaster, the ride used to be called Medusa, and now it's called Bizarro, same ride, different name, maybe a little bit of paint and flame too

Not sure if this relates at all but isn't universal studios located in WDW?

In case this isn't a joke:
No, Universal Orlando Resort (Universal Studios Park and Islands of Adventure) and Walt Disney World Resort are two completely separate entities in the Orlando area.

There would be nothing simple about retheming an entire land. Just look at all the work they did for WWoHP. It's a moot point, however, since they're keeping Marvel.

Ummm, they have already started removing any references to Marvel at Uni Hollywood, so........

I went to Disneyworld on March 19th. My wife andI went shopping at World of Disney. I saw them selling Marvel Comics stuff there. Is this just the beginning, has anyone hear rumors of Universal shutting down their Marvel Comics Attractions, so Disney can start their own Marvel Comics based theme park?

Our Disney Store just went Iron Man CRAZY!

Pretty sure if I remember correctly when the deal went down, all Hollywood had left was a Marvel Comic themed merch store, the attractions were long gone. Pretty easy to just clear out the old merch, and remove sinage in that kind of case.

Ummm, USH's contract with Marvel was allowed to expire several years ago. It's completely irrelevant to the situation in Florida, so........

My apologies for slightly deviating from the subject -- I attempted to a search for a more appropriate thread but couldn't find one; if somebody knows of one and wants to link it, I'd appreciate it.

Anyway, is there any informed word or speculation on whether Disney World is going to make a Marvel ride or attraction in the near future? I was just curious what the plan was. I don't even really know the logistics of the Disney/Marvel deal.

Disney can't use any of the characters currently features at IoA in its Orlando theme parks as long as Uni meets its contractual obligations as it pertains to those specific characters. All other Marvel characters (and there are thousands) and any newly developed characters by Marvel can be featured in the parks. Disney is developing several Marvel inspired franchises namely for Disney owned cable outlets. This is just the tip of the iceberg as Iger has big plans for Marvel. I would expect you would see character meet and greets first in the WDW theme parks especially if the new shows are ratings winners. Something along the lines of the way Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles have been featured. As for actual attractions and stage shows, that appears to be at least a few years away. This situation really creates a huge dilemma for Universal if you think about all the implications. Which is why I still predict they will drop the Marvel characters sooner rather than later. The agreement also gives Disney access to Universal's business data since Disney gets paid fees now that it owns the IoA characters.

PS- If Uni decides to convert it's Marvel based land to something like, oh say, Transformers...then Disney can use those characters (including Spidey) in WDW theme parks immediately. And all bets are off as to how fast Disney would build new attractions then.

Hope that helps.
