Mark's Pictorial Park Update ft. MK & Epcot

I'm so new at this, but I figured I'd give it a go.
This is from Tuesday, June 5, 2007.

Parked at Epcot, got a new AP because the old one went through the laundry. The CM was so nice about it too. Went on SSE and then took the monorail to MK.

SSE notes: A lot of fiber optic effects weren't working, don't know how long that's been happening. I think everyone knows about the Seimens audio before/after the ride. It was cutting out both times I rode SSE, so I'm assuming it wasn't just a one time thing and that the audio actually does cut out like this for every guest. It goes a little something like this at the end: " [CUTS OUT IN THE BEGINNING] you enjoyed your journey aboard Spaceship Earth." So basically she's telling me that I enjoyed my journey, the usual "we hope..." part in the beginning gets cut out, and it just sounds bad.

Monorail to MK took a little bit, there was a lot of Traffic. Walked into MK as the parade was going on.

Gotta love the attention to detail that Disney has. The "secret" parade speakers that blast the Dreams Come True audio through Main Street.
During and After the parade...

Ate at the rebellious Peco Bill's. The reason I say it's rebellious is because it went against everything Disney that day. It was extremely gross and dirty. Had the rudest CM at the register, who simply said "No." when I handed her my AP for the [Non-existent] food discount. She was yelling at a lady behind me that couldn't speak English. The receipts were lacking the large, homogenizing "Disney Parks" logo header at the top. The bathrooms were really, really, really bad. It just wasn't a good day for Peco Bill's. :hurl:

Saw the Pirate Tutorial for the first time. It was nice. Pirates of the Caribbean holds a steady wait as it was 40 minutes. Hook and Smee were out as always. I had Smee go fetch me some [nuts]. :D

Country Bear Jamboree needs new audio. It sounded like they were using casette tapes, it was really bad. HM had a pretty long wait for it's hourly capacity. It was up to 40 minutes when I saw it, it was HM's last day before closing for the summer.

Did MILF, the queue was cool, as was the briefing room. It was funnier than I thought it would be. Animation was still kind of choppy, but it was a pretty funny show.

The TTA really needs some TLC. Space Mountain was down. The lights were on when we went through it. [ ] COP was working good as new. No animatronic problems, no audio problems, it was just perfect. The CM didn't call it COP though, when he did his briefing... "Welcome to Walt Disney's 21 minutes of air-conditioned bliss." We were also lucky enough to get the refurbished theater.

There is no AP lunch discount, aside from select Table Service Resturants at the Resorts and some at Epcot. In fact, besides perhaps Wolfgang Puck Cafe Express, there are no discounts for any counter service resturant. Not to say that it was wrong of the cashier to speak to you in the way she did, but she was correct.

Alright I hope I'm not the only one to think this, but Monster's Inc Laugh Floor definitely needs a different abbreviation than MILF. Mixing Stiffler and Disney just is not right.

If you are talking about the SSE laser effects, they are turned off for good. Siemens decided not to use them in their new version.

CONTINUED...

When we were leaving Tomorrowland, Dream Along with Mickey was going on. They were using the new articulated heads. It looked great, I'm not sure if they are using these all the time now or not. [ ]

I don't know what it is, but there are so many animals in the parks. I must've seen 8 duck families walking around. The little duckies following the mommies. There were so many. Rabbits were EVERYWHERE. A lot by the castle, near the bridge to Liberty Square.

On the way out of the MK, it was the first time I noticed these little character Silhouettes they had in the gardens in front of the Main Street Train Station when you're walking into the park. I'm sure they were always there, but if they weren't I'll include a picture.

On the monorail to Epcot, there was a rude family that was spilling popcorn all over the floor. Trust me, you'd be surprised at the quantity of this popcorn. There was so much everywhere, and they just kept eating it.

I think I know why the wand's there now. As we were looping around Future World, a little girl in a Cinderella dress yelled in excitement, "That's Mickey's hand!" I hate the wand, but this was so cute, I died. :o

F&GF is over. The pirates topiaries are gone in the front of the park. They are still working all around Future World and World Showcase.

Future World West stage was up and there was a marching band playing in the Showcase Plaza.

A playground is springing up near the backside of MouseGear by Test Track. Is this news or have I been living in a hole recently? I'm pretty sure it's a playground. It looks like one.
[I do live in a hole. It was a part of the F&GF and they are finally taking it down. Thanks willythelab!]

Didn't know they still lit up the Odyssey sign, I thought they got rid of it. The Odyssey doors were wide open. I didn't see anything, but anyone just could've walked right it. I wasn't so audacious.

Gran Fiesta Tour was holding up a line too. It was a tasteful refurb IMO.

Illuminations was powerful as always. I finally noticed the new intro with "the Walt Disney World Resort: Where Dreams Come True," and I thought the old one was more exciting. The difference is noticable.

Alright, I think that's it. Enjoy! Feel free to comment or anything.

Let it be known that it looks like Heelys and Crocs are like the official shoes of WDW. That's all I saw.

That's what I figured and that's what I was used to. With the new AP, someone in my party had the 2007 passholder booklet and they said it was in there. I guess it was my fault for not checking, I thought I stood corrected. I guess not. :o

yyyyyeah that uh did MILF thing very uhhh yeah:ROFLOL:
Disney's official abbreviation is MLF. MILF is just more fun.

I'm referring to the part right before the communitcation tunnel. Where you go through this globe type thing and it's supposed to show how we're all connected throughout the world with what I thought were fiber optics blinking from country to country.

Thanks Mark

Thanks for the update. The playground is part of Flower and Garden. It looks like they are already taking it out. Back in October, 2007.

Ah, so that's it. Thanks for the info. I edited it accordingly.

Any word on a refurb on TTA?

The seat looked like crap.

I don't think so, but I agree. The reason is, MK has more problems to attend to. HM right now, JC, Space, and word is a new attraction within years.

Luckily TTA vehicle(which I have only seen one with rips) is fairly easy to fix.

That's true. Which leads me to think they might just do it quietly without actually scheduling an official refurb. I just would love to see the TTA get updated audio and some general TLC. Although I'm not sure what more they could do.

Most of that is just simple neon lights. I can't imagine why they'd turn them off unless there was a malfunction somewhere.

What do you mean by this? Is this a spoken intro? Does it take the place of the old guy doing "we are gathered here around the fire..."?

It's the same guy, but he says "Where Dreams Come True" at the beginning. The original intro is still there, but he does say it differently and I think the general consensus is that he sounds less interested.

I have had this version a couple times, but I guess it can be chosen which one as I have also had shows recently with the original.

I definately prefer the original version of this spiel it sounds more powerful and confident that the new one.
