HI there Everyone!
I just got back from seeing the new movie King Arthur and I thought it was AWESOME! But It is basically bombing at the box office, because I think the marketing of this movie sucks big time! I only went to see the movie cause I was bored and called moviefone to see what was playing and I heard that King Arthur was out, but I have not seen any advertisements for the movie, no trailers! Nothing Zip! My question is does anyone know why they did such a terrible job promoting this movie? Geeze Fish tales has had better prommoting then King Arthur! I am stumped because it really is an awesome movie.

I've seen posters in the theatre, but I can't remember seeing any trailers.(that I can remember)
There have been some commercials here, but I'm in the NYC market so maybe that makes a difference.
Its on my list of things to do...just hope I get to it.

Hi Tigsmom!
You see the marketing on this movie is terrible, they should flood the market with advertisements make this movie known, but they don't if this movie bombs they will have noone to blame but themselves for not promoting it. It is almost like they wanted this movie to bomb! :hammer:

The movie is expected to have a $22-24 million weekend, which will put it in 3rd, behind Spiderman and Anchorman.
This just renews my belief that Disney is not marketing the films correctly, and this too could be another reason why films are failing.

I have said all along the movies are failing due to bad marketing. 80 Days was a good film but it was marketed horribly as well. I am going to go see King Arthur this afternoon, and am hoping to love it. We have only seen the trailer in the theatre for other movies, not a single commercial or anything else. They need to change something because essentially the movies they are putting out aren't as horrible as the box office shows.

My Sentiments exactly Careship and Speck!
I think you both will love this movie, and if it was marketed right I know it could be a hit, but they are not promoting it at all, it is almost like they want it to bomb, Like Careship said I have NOT seen a SIngle commercial at all for this movie, not one!

Well, I will let you know what I think of it. I am headed out to see it in about 20 minutes. My boys are anxious to see it, we saw the trailer for it when we saw 80 Days but not when we saw Spiderman2. I can't belive they didn't have a trailer for it at 80 Days. Again....new marketing strategies are needed for these great fils that are being left to critics to tell us whether or not to see it and the critics bash anything from Disney lately.

They started marketing this film on the internet months ago. Only recently did I start to see the mini-trailers on tv. Of course, it's not big enough to make special tv spots on shows or anything, but still. I agree this movie hasn't been marketed well enough. I have yet to see it, but it's on my list of things to do.

Just returned from King Arthur.....it was fantastic. I was amazed at this movie. It really was a great epic battle that as a family we thoroughly enjoyed. You know it's bad when my 12 year old handed me his napkin when he saw I was crying. That's the makings of a great movie. I wish they'd have marketed it better because this is an amazing movie. I loved it!!!!

Also, for those who saw the movie, did anyone see the Ladder 49 trailer? They had better market this better then the others because Ladder 49 looks wonderful!!!! There was another Touchstone movie trailer that looked great but I can't think of the name anymore.

Go see King Arthur....I implore you all it can't be missed. I had to laugh during the movie when my 11 year old screamed yes screamed, Arturius!!!!! No one in the theatre shushed him, they all smiled. It was a packed theatre and it was 3 in the afternoon on a beautiful day here in Michigan.

Glad you enjoyed King Arthur, can't wait to see it.
As for Ladder 49, I think I'll pass. Living in a family full of firefighters (my DH is out at a call now) and having gone thru 9/11 I don't think I could handle it.

Most definately tigsmom....I understand that. It does look very good, I know I'll need to bring Kleenex with me. It has John Travolta and ??? can't remember the other names. Don't forget if you are anything like me tigsmom, you will need Kleenex for King Arthur too. I was leary bringing the boys because of all the bloody violence, but it isn't like that. It is just a great epic battle. It has more blood then the battle in LotR, but it was intense and it was just awesome and the story was fantastic. I hope the movie does well, it deserves to.

Wow, I'm surprised! We've been waiting for months for this movie to come out. Either they are promoting it more in my area than in others, or we're just noticing it a lot for some reason. At any rate, I'm glad you liked it and I can't wait to see it! There are so many good movies out this time of year.

1 1 Spider-Man 2 SONY $46,000,000 $257,258,000
2 - Anchorman D'WORKS $28,000,000 $28,000,000
3 - King Arthur BV $15,155,000 $23,585,000

The movie was helped by an early opening....luckily, this is the type of movie that should do very well overseas.
