i suspect disney still has the rest of red sitting around along with bits & pieces of at least 5 of the other mark iv trains. they dont need to buy it back, just use what they have collecting dust. wow, how many of us remember the sounds the doors made when they were popped open?

This is one is owned by Surplus Kingdom.... isn't that they guy who started MouseSurplus and recently split from them....

If so, this should be the monorail that was at MouseSurplus (unless they had two)...??

Yes this is the same monorail that was in the warehouse at MouseSurplus. Although I thought that it ended up going to the other owner, not the present owner of SurplusKingdom. There was a thread a while ago that the monorail was spotted in Atlanta.

From what I understand, the high bidder wants to convert it into an RV. If I had the extra money to get it,I would do the same thing.

Actually they said when the split company, the owwner of the monorail took it back to Atlanta. The auction does have a short little description of the happenings of this monorail

Right now (03/28/07 8:30PM) the bid is $34,100.
The reserve isn't even met yet.
I wonder how much the seller expects to get for this thing?

The Las Vegas field. Mk IV Silver. Now THAT was sad.
There's a shed for the old trains behind Bally's. The tracks that lead out from there have been lopped off but I've always thought that was their retirement home. Empty land anywhere near the strip is pretty scarce.

Disney managed to make a road-legal Mark III (of course, that was years ago when legislation, particularly for exhaust, was a lot less dense than it was now.) I'd love to have my own bus-sized Monorail on the road. The horns on those things are usually pretty impressive.

I don't know why it says it is located in Florida. The monorail is sitting in the middle of a town called Tyrone. It is about 15 miles to the south of the Atlanta airport. A man by the name of Thomas Young owns it. I don't know why it keeps getting moved and the put up for sale over and over.

Are a lot of the posters in this thread illiterate? No, shipping is not one cent, read the item description. No, this does not belong to Mouse Surplus or anyone besides Surplus Kingdom. If it did, the $2 per mile would be invalidated as the item location would be incorrect (or at least I hope this seller did enough homework to know this...). Read the auction in full before commenting on it!

That 1st line was rude. Some were making a joke. In the shipping section it did say shipping was a penny. ($0.01 USPS Priority Mail®)

The monorail use to belong to Mouse Surplus, the 2 guys split company and each have their own companies now. The one started Surplus Kingdom and took the monorail and any other items that he brought into the business.

History of Surplus Kingdom

I have been fascinated with Disney since childhood, I myself am a serious collector of Disney memorabilia. I have been collecting Disney items for the past 15 years. When the opportunity arose for me to continue to do this for a living, you now what I did, and I have been doing it every since. I was the founder and former partner of MouseSurplus until 2006, due to differences of opinion in the new partnership, I decided it was time for me to leave, and start over. My focus now is to learn from previous mistakes... As Surplus Kingdom begins its journey, my goal is to go back to my roots, and make selling Disney items as enjoyable as when I first started. That includes being involved in every aspect of customer service. Through the years I have seen Disney, bring so much joy to people. Disney is fun, and there is always something new. Thank you for viewing our auctions, and bidding, Hope your experience with us is a pleasurable one.

They said they will deliver at $2 a mile, but if the buyer has the means to pick it up, with the trailer it comes with, they can do that and not pay any fee.

Regarding how it was in GA too: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=42748&page=1
