I am traveling to WDW Feb 2 through the 8th which is Mardi Gras week. I am wondering if anybody knows the expected crowd level. The Disney Site is saying there are no rooms available anywhere whenever I check. I like t ocheck to try to gauge park crowds.

Try the website TouringPlans.com. They post crowd level info.

Mardi Gras is a popular time for people who live in areas where the kids are out of school for the week. We used to live north of New Orleans on the northshore. It was always a good time for families to go and miss minimal amounts of school. :)

My parents go every Mardi Gras and while it is a busy week it is not crazy crowded.
Not summer or Christmas time crowds by all means..or else they would not be going..:)

Yes! Its Super Bowl weekend. We'll be at WDW! Our 6th trip in six years. Last year was crowded because it was the same time as Presidents' Week. I am hoping that since MG is so early this year that the crowds shouldn't be that bad. I have checked touringplans.com and they say the crowds should be between 4 and 6 on their scale of 10 being the most crowded.
Don't forget all your Mardi Gras, Saints and LSU shirts!!!
See ya there!

In previous years MG has been a good time to go, as long as it doesn't conflict with Presidents week. But this year it seems the hotels are booked solid and lately I'm hearing more folks planning for Disney trips than actually going to parades. So I'm not sure how that week will be. But one thing for sure I would rather fight the crowds at Disney than the ones in New Orleans for Mardi Gras.

See ya there....

Unfortunately the wife has put me on a two LSU Shirt ration. So I will definitely be sporting the national championship shirt. She didn't say anything about visors and jackets!:p guess I will have to wait and see on the crowds. By the way has Slowhiho state realized they can't run with the SEC yet?:brick:

If you are an active member of the military, guard or reserve, or part of the department of defense, you are in luck with staying at the Shades of Green resort during Mardi Gras week.

In taking a look at the reservations, Feb. 3-6 are not booked up solid, but Feb. 7-9 is all booked up.

Check it out at -- http://www.shadesofgreen.org/reservations.htm

Good luck, that is if you qualify. And to top that -- low rate and no tax.

We have visited Disney every year for the past six years (with the exception of 2007 - we skipped it due to Presidents week falling the same week) during Mardi Gras break. We find the crowds manageable and we are able to do and see everything. We get to the park when it opens and use the fast pass system. We have never had to stand and wait in long lines. The lines will get long in the afternoon for the popular attractions but by then we have already been there done that.

Our family of 11 will be there that week as well (2/2 through 2/8) and I know that our 1st night resort at Port Orleans French Quarter (figured we'd get some Mardi Gras flavor, right?) is booked solid. I think I remember hearing something about a Cheerleading competition and a big convention that week. Most seem to agree that these have little effect on crowds in the parks though.
