Hello all, my fiance and I will be at the world Jan. 29 - Feb. 12 for our wedding at SBP and honeymoon. From everything i've read this is supposed to be a great time to go. Very low crowds and awesome weather. We are used to going in low times...Septemberish. Anyways it turns out that the first week of Feb. is mardi gras for people in Lousiana and some gulf coasters. How big of an impact on crowd levels will this be? Some people told me I shouldn't notice anything. Just wanted to get some more feedback. TIA

The only place where Mardi Gras is really promoted is at Universal, where it does get busy on Saturday's during the Mardi Gras stuff.

Disney more than likely won't see a lot of people. You will have more there on the weekends (like any weekend) but during the week, it shouldn't be that bad.

Have fun.

We are going to be going at that time also, to get AWAY from Mardi Gras, as we live in Louisiana, so I do hope that the crowds are light and the weather is great.
We're doing Feb 3-10th!!

I'm from Louisiana and we used to go at that time a lot. It's not too bad. But it's not empty because alot of people from Louisiana and the Gulf Coast go to Disney to escape the massive tourist crowds in N.O. but the crowds aren't comparable to a week like Easter or Thanksgiving. I guess I'd just classify that week as "normal", not empty, not packed.

The only time it gets a little out of hand is when Mardi Gras falls the same time as President's Day (like last year) and when Mardi Gras falls at the same time as winter break for the northern/midwestern schools (which, as Mardi Gras is early this year, I doubt it will).

You should be good to go! Hope this helped!

The only time you have to worry about Mardi Gras crowds is when it falls at the same time as President's Week. You have many people from the Gulf Coast and the entire Northeast there.

Since Mardi Gras is February 4 this year, it shouldn't be bad. You'll have a nice crowd, but don't worry, we are all fun, nice, and social people.

We lived in the N.O. area for quite a while. I know a lot of families go to WDW the week for Mardis Gras because they want to escape the crowds but also because school is generally out on Monday & Tuesday that week.
