March or May?

Planning our very first WDW trip in 2017. My options are the first week of March or the first week of May. Hoping for not crazy crowds...and decent weather. Any thoughts on which month is better? Crowd calendars seem to be about the same.

Spring break and graduations for colleges and universities fall into both of those windows, so I'll ignore that.

I would say March would have cooler temperatures, and that would sway my vote.

Yes
I'm going the first weekend in March (3-7) for my bachelor party. Before that are back to back busy weekends due to Presidents day and RunDisney. The parks should be a bit quieter after those weekends. It is also before kids start going on Spring Break. I would just assume May would be a bit busier but I've never been then.

A first ever trip?!? So fun! Congrats.

I've been during both exact times and honestly loved them both.

I found that March was a bit chillier in the morning and at night with limited humidity overall, while May was generally very warm to hot no matter the time of day with varying degrees of humidity. We had almost no rain also either time of year.

Crowd wise, I don't remember a huge difference. May was probably a bit busier due to school trip crowds. Easter will be 4/16/17 so you don't have to worry about those crowds at either time which is helpful.

Can't go wrong with either time of year!

First week of March is generally low crowd. It's before most March breaks. It's also a lot cooler than May. Not cold, just not sweltering. Pretty sure May is generally rainier too.

We'll be there Feb 27-March 10 so I'm hoping what I'm saying (based on a bit of research) is true!

Uh oh. Sounds like @nashrose may not want to go that week. ;). Seriously, my vote is March also. Easter is April 16 next year so with the Easter crowds shifting, crowds won't be as bad in March. You'll be able to enjoy the Flower and Garden festival in both months. But again, it's cooler in March so I would rather visit then.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. Easter is mid-April, so some of the Florida school districts have spring break in March this year, but I don't believe many were the first week when I looked into it for a client. May is still a good time for weather and crowds, too!

When my kids were in school spring break usually fell on the first week of March so we would come to WDW every other year at that time for the past 20+ years. People have said it can be cool, yes and it can also be cold. If you plan on swimming I would say May. There were many trips we went on that we had to choose which day we went swimming or a water park because sometimes there was only one day that was warm enough in the whole week we were there.

We went the first week of March a couple of years ago and it was by far my favorite trip. The weather was great - it was comfortable wearing either pants or shorts. There was no humidity. We were able to accomplish so much! There was one chilly day and we needed to wear lightweight jackets. The Flower and Garden Festival opened while we were there and the crowds were low. The only issue for us during that time of year is that we often get snow so there were definitely concerns we wouldn't be able to leave to get to FL :)
