[clears throat for attempted explanation...]

OK, for all the folks who are looking at the numbers and wondering what it all means, I'll give this a shot--it's really pretty simple (in a complicated sort of way). (Anyone not desiring a joint lecture on college basketball and rudimentary statistics, feel free to skip.)

Every year in March, the NCAA Basketball Tournament dominates discussion among sports-inclined people like myself.

Essentially, the NCAA Tournament matches the top 64 college basketball teams in the country in a tournament to decide the national champion. The 64 teams are separated into 4 regions, or "brackets", of 16 teams each. The teams in each region are placed (or "seeded") from #'s 1 to 16. The seeds determine the matchups, so that the #1 (top) seed in each region plays against the #16 (bottom) seed in the first round. (The #1 seed is typically a powerhouse basketball program, while the #16 seed is typically a small, obscure school just happy to be playing in the tournament.) From there, the seeds further determine the matchup, with #2 (second-highest) playing #15 (second-lowest), and so on until you reach #8 vs. #9 (the two teams right in the middle). After the first round, subsequent-round matchups are determined by assuming the higher seed wins every game. (Thus, the 1 vs. 16 matchup is right next to the 8 vs. 9 matchup, since #1 would be the highest remaining seed in the region, while #8 would be the lowest remaining, barring any upsets (wins by lower-seeded teams).) Still, the seeding is easy to understand, really: The #1 and #2 seeds are placed on opposite sides, so that they cannot meet until the last game within their bracket (since they're the top two teams). Further, the #3 and #4 are placed in spots within the bracket where they can't encounter the top two teams until the semifinals (round before the finals); of course, the #4 team is placed in the same section as the #1, since that would be the "high-low" matchup, assuming all four top seeds made it to their regional semifinal. In this way, the brackets are all (theoretically) kept balanced as the tournament progresses. The tournament starts with the round of 64, progresses to the round of 32, then to the round of 16 teams, then the round of 8, the round of 4, the final 2, and finally the champion. That's the idea that I've applied to this little thing. Hope it helps, without making your head swim. :animwink:

I salute your spirit, but in the midst of your enthusiasm, your Magic Kingdom bracket got some holes punched in it. :D

The last 3 matchups are all missing, so if you'd like to weigh in on the Splash Mtn.-Tom Sawyer, Buzz-Pooh, and Space Mtn.-Dumbo rumbles, feel free.

We aim to please here at the Wilt Dasney Company!! :D

But if the numbers just don't click, don't sweat it...the "blindly picking your favorites" method will work just fine. :)

I've thought about this, and decided that in a nod to chronology and Walt's original vision, the two original parks will be separated until the final. Thus, the oldest park will play the newest park in a Battle of the Kingdoms, while Epcot and the Studios will face off in the other semifinal.

That's the way to do it, I can't see MK and MGM meeting until at least the finals, way to go, good job!

I don't think my biggest upset of Snow White over Cindy's Castle is gonna happen!
