Well, folks, it's time to put a fork in our long and winding trip through this little hybrid adventure; 62 attractions have fallen away since first we began, and the final two have waged friendly war to determine the All-Parks Champ. Before we get there, though, we need to take a look at the "other" 6th-round matchup:
As it turned out, the consolation match was a lot closer than the "big one," as DINOSAUR and IllumiNations staged a fairly close battle for 3rd place; while Epcot's spectacle ran out to an early lead on CTX, the blast from the past made a late run to tighten things up considerably. In the end, it wasn't enough as IllumiNations' solid start allowed it to hold on and down the reptiles by a slim 3-vote margin.

And now--the one you've been waiting for. Ya know, peeps, I could hype this up, insert drumrolls, really try to build up the suspense if I wanted--but there's really no point (as anyone who payed attention to the voting probably noticed). This was not close by any means, more akin to UNLV-Duke in '90 than Michigan-Seton Hall in '89 (last overt hoops reference, I promise). Regardless of whether or not it was the best of the field of 64, Splash Mountain did a heck of a job representing the Magic Kingdom at the Final Four, pounding DINOSAUR in the semis and similarly slapping around the Coaster in a clash of two 3 seeds in the title match. Commend the Coaster for winning two straight "one-voters" to make the final, but its run ends here, as Aerosmith's final performance proves all wet. The Brer Crew can start celebrating: Splash Mountain is the champion!!

Anyway, now that things are over, time for a little postgame babble: Sincerely, I want to thank everybody for the reception to this series of threads. I appreciate all the votes, compliments, and criticisms (as well as the folks who gave the threads Five Star ratings). I appreciate all the regulars who were here nearly every round or came to the party late but remained for the duration, but I especially want to acknowledge our loyal "core of 12" who voted in every single round, namely:
Brer Penguin
Main Street USA
FantasiaBish
DisneyInsider
2much2do
SJTSmith
Lance
turkey leg boy
Mr. Toad
Sean23
disneyman15
Smitty
Anyway, that's about it. I've heard suggestions of doing this again next year from a couple of folks, so assuming that the interest is still here next March, there's a real possibility this game could return in one form or another and give the Great Mildew Ride a chance to defend its championship. Until then, congrats once more to Splash Mountain, who for three weeks stood taller than any other structure in the Happiest Place On Earth.
See ya on the boards, everybody.
