Overtime!

Overtime!

Hey, kiddies, we've got a slight situation on our hands. The voting stream has dried up, leaving two of our matches deadlocked. Since it appears that more voters may not be forthcoming, here's the deal: I'm going to declare a moratorium on general voting and move this round into a tiebreak phase at this point. (The round will still run through Sunday as planned, just with this added wrinkle.) From this point, I'm going to accept votes only on the two tied matches. Everyone is elegible to vote, regardless of whether or not you voted previously. Hopefully, by getting this post up on Friday afternoon, any work and school folks without weekend access will be able to get in.

Vote for a winner in these two matches. If, by Sunday, we still have no resolution in either match, I'll use a coinflip to decide them and post results from all matches. (Also, if anybody thinks extending the round through Monday would better accomodate everyone, just let me know and I'll consider it.)

Hey, campers, the results are in, and the ties have been broken. Thankfully, the dreaded coinflip can stay out of the game--at least for now. Let's take a look at all the results:

In the Magic Kingdom, both top seeds ended up in fairly close battles, but both managed to get through, as Cindy's Pad squeezed past the Lightbulb Orgy, and Space Mountain topped its Tomorrowland cousin by four votes; meanwhile, Splash Mountain soundly beat its Frontierland neighbor, and the Haunted Mansion had a surprisingly easy time going through the Pirates.

Over in Animal Kingdom, it was smooth sailing for the top two seeds, as the Tree of Life and DINOSAUR won easily; meanwhile, Flik and his crew narrowly exterminated the River Rapids, while Simba and company grabbed an overtime win over the 3 seed to continue their unlikely run. (OK, dropping the announcer persona for a second, I obviously blew it with the Lion King's seed, but hey, that's what I have all you WDW experts here for, right?) Numbers, please (tiebreak votes in brackets to the right of regulation votes):

The Studios saw one significant upset in Round 2 (assuming you give any credence to the seeds), as The Great Movie Ride ousted the bracket's top seed, sending our first "icon" on its way; meanwhile, Sorcerer Mickey topped Kermit and the gang, while the Coaster and the Tower both won easily, setting up a dandy for Round 3.

In the Smart Folks Park, it was again no contest for the top two seeds: Spaceship Earth claimed its second consecutive shutout, while Test Track knocked out the last World Showcase rep. Loud, Bright, Boomy Things dispatched Rick Moranis and Co., while Inoventions survived the tiebreak to advance.
