March crowds - help needed.

Hi there everyone - I can’t believe this but I might have the chance to go to Disney in just 41 days - yes 41 days - I’ve always had a countdown number in its hundreds!

I always go in November and I’ve heard horror stories of spring break - I don’t know why I’m not just jumping right in and booking - it’s like a dream come true - but Spring break is making me have reservations

Can anyone throw any light on how bad it might be or if I go with an open mind will it be ok?
Looking to travel 19th March for 10 days - touring plans looks like medium crowds for first week and then weekend crowd levels hit 10 and remain that way for the second half of the holidays into Easter.

It’s either this or a holiday elsewhere and I know where my heart takes me!

I am travelling again in Novemeber this year for 14 days so it’s not like I won’t get to Disney this year so this would be a bonus

I’m going to need to make my mind up quickly so I don’t loose the holiday or the price

Thanks for all help and comments/thoughts

I say a busy day in Disney is better than a day at home (or elsewhere!)

I'm going March 18-23 and have been at that time before. Crowds are not that bad - busy sure, but nothing too crazy if memory serves me correctly. It will definitely be busier the closer to Easter. I'd still go anyway ;)

Thank you - I know what you mean I’d rather be in Disney anytime but if it is madness I don’t think the hubby will be best pleased with me.

I think I saw somewhere that you were going in March - I’ve glad you’ve been before at that time as that makes me feel a bit better and puts my mind at rest.

We’ll just have to see if it’s still available now.

What’s the dilemma? I dare you to beat the number of my BTMRR rides this year. 😉

Well we know that’s never gonna happen with the amount of trips you do!

I nearly contacted you direct to see what you thought of March - it’s not like me to hesitate - I mean another 10 days in Disney in just 41 days time what needs considering

Here’s the thing about Spring Break....it is not one single week. Or two. It is spread out over about 6-8 weeks and as long as you avoid the week after Easter it won’t be crazy.

Only the crazy go Easter week. 😉

Thank you - I’ve always want to see the flower and garden festival and my thoughts were we could take it easy anyway (who am I kidding but that’s what I might tell Chris!) - thank you

I don't follow the crowd calendars, but everything I read about them suggests that they just aren't accurate anymore. Because we're FL residents, we are getting to visit frequently these day and have noticed that really, WDW is either busy, or very busy. You mention your typical November trips. At one time, these may have been significantly less crowded than March. From what I have seen, that's just not the case anymore and I don't think you're going to notice a drastic difference between the two.

Just do it. Flower and Garden is great and the crowds won't be THAT bad. My wife and I went with my mother-in-law and a two-year old in March two years ago and we had a blast and didn't feel like we missed out on anything.

(Except for a whole day missed from picking up a DCL virus...but that's beside the point.)

We're going again the first weekend in March this year and booked it 34 days out. So flying be the seat of our pants over here, too.

My thoughts exactly with crowd calendars I typically don’t follow them any more and have seen Nov crowds increase each year
Thanks for your thoughts that really helps

Thank you - and sorry you picked up a virus.
Sometimes just winging it is the best option - let’s face it before booking fast passes that’s what you had to do anyway.

Have a great time

Hi: We will be in WDW Feb 27th to March 7th! I know you know this:)
I researched the dates, and came up with this time as being possibly the least crowded, before start of Spring Break, no Easter, and after the Feb BTG's and Princess half marathon! Whew! The planning part trying to find a less crowded time is getting harder and harder to do.
We have never been during holidays; however, we went 3 years ago to the day before Thanksgiving. The crowds were a little too much for us.
Too bad you won't be there when we are:( Three weeks from tomorrow:)
I guess if that's the only time you can go, then go for it. I personally wouldn't do it around Easter and Spring Break because we don't like a lot of crowding, but that's just us.
Hope this works out for you.

Hi Ruth I was saying to Chris that you were going and it might work so we could meet again.
We’ve not written this off yet and are now looking at maybe going the week before
My holiday year at work finishes March and I’m trying to use it up hence the reason for trying to get away. I’ll let you know if we get it sorted - looking at prices and options trying to tie everything in.
I’ll be in touch via email before you leave :)

Go for it!! And, if the crowds end up being too much you can always hang out & enjoy the beauty of Riverside--not a bad option!!
I assume that's where you're staying:D

That could be another reason I’m hesitating!

In order for this to happen it will be at All star sports on a budget as we are going to Riverside in Nov - This whole trip for a March with hotel, park tickets and flight will be far less than Riverside and park tickets in Nov!

My heart is with Riverside (as you know) but this is Disney after all.

I totally get it. You can always pay a visit to Riverside while you're there though. The few times I've stayed elsewhere I made sure to visit quite often!! There's no place like home.....

I went the first week in March once a few years ago and it was low crowds. This year I'm going March 10th and everything I've read shows that week to be extremely busy. But everything I read shows crowds are busy any time of the year anyway so I won't let that stop me LOL. I love the Flower and Garden Festival. The weather is more management and doesn't have the humidity that I've experienced in October. If you have the chance, do it LOL!
