March 2016

Hello everyone.

We are planning our next trip to coincide with my 40th birthday at the end of March 2016. Recently we stayed at Contemporary with a theme park view (July 2014) and Animal Kingdom Lodge with a Sunset Savanna view (February 2015). For this trip we are looking at going back to the Contemporary or trying the Polynesian for the first time. The convenience of the monorail can't be beat imo and is truly worth the price.

Has anyone stayed at the Poly since the refurb and if so, any thoughts? Or, any thoughts in general about the Poly?

I know we loved the CR and having our daughter be able to watch wishes from her bed on the 10th floor was amazing. Also, since we are a MK family, the opportunity to walk to the hotel in 8-10 minutes door to door was great, especially when the monorail line was ridiculous.

We truly are torn.

Thanks everyone

In my opinion, you cannot beat the convenience of the CR. We have stayed at The CR (4X), The Poly, Shades of Green, The WL (2X), Port Orleans, and off site. I love love love the CR for all sorts of reasons and it sounds like you love it too. The Poly was very nice but I have not stayed there in a few years so not sure about the refurbishment. I promised myself that every trip from here on will be at The CR. Go with your gut feelings and you will make the right decision. Have a Magical Trip! :cat:

Thank you very much. My gut does tell me CR, the whole family just loved it. @awheartsdw is my DW, and I think without questions she is leaning towards the CR.

Location, location, location.

It's the one MK resort that offers the convenience of walking to the MK, the resort loop (with only ONE stop to the TTC to get to Epcot), and inside access to the monorail (nice in bad weather).

All resorts have great shops and restaurants. Other MK resorts also have great views of MK. It's the extra convenience of being able to ride the monorail or just walk to and from the MK that gives this resort the edge for us. It's also a timeless classic.

that is truly the difficulty. Both offer great convenience. However, CR has the walking option which was great last summer when we utilized it.

When you stop at the TTC to get to EPCOT do you have to get off the monorail and get on another one going to EPCOT???

I'll be staying at the Poly in 3 weeks and will gladly provide my review then. That said, I've stayed at BLT as well and truthfully did not enjoy it. I imagine you enjoyed it since you are willing to go back, but expect - or at least I truly hope - my review for the Poly will be superior. Butfor your situation, I have to agree staying on the monorail loop should be a necessity.

I hate how this sounds but I think we have become monorail snobs:).
It made life so easy, especially on MK and Epcot days.

Spoke with my travel agent last night. The price for hotel alone for Poly is too cost prohibitive and was over $1k more than CR. So Poly, unfortunately is off the list.
