SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. —
A North Carolina man came to central Florida for a Disney cruise but landed in jail instead on Thursday.

Investigators said 37-year-old Cedrick Swinson robbed a Satellite Beach credit union when he realized he didn't have enough money for the trip.

The man had his girlfriend and their two children wait in the car during the robbery.

Satellite Beach police said Swinson's girlfriend had no idea what was happening.

She told investigators Swinson was out of the credit union so quickly she joked, "What did you do, rob a bank?"

Navy Federal Credit Union members could barely believe the Satellite Beach branch was targeted by a bank robber on vacation.

"My God, we're so upset about what happened," said credit union employee Feliciana Rivera-Subido.

Investigators said when Swinson realized he didn't have access to his own funds he decided to steal the money to get his girlfriend's children on the Disney cruise.

Commander Brad Hodge with Satellite Beach Police said Swinson made a split-second decision to walk into the bank and hand the teller a note demanding money to pay for a Disney cruise for the family.

Police had a description of the suspect and his vehicle.

Within five to six minutes of the robbery, police pulled over his SUV on the Pineda Causeway where they arrested Swinson and recovered the credit union's cash.

Swinson's girlfriend and her kids were released. She left the police department quickly.

Swinson has previous arrests for writing worthless checks, breaking and entering and identity fraud in North Carolina.

Why do all the crazy people live in or come to Florida?

Why not Texas or something? (Not to pick on Texas, I love it, God Bless Texas. If I didn't live here, I'd live there.)

I feel badly for the kids who thought they were going on a cruise with Mickey Mouse and instead had to witness and be a part of all that. :(

The whole thing would have been more of a social statement had it not been for his priors.

But they didn't get specific on the priors. I'd bet it was worthless checks written to fund a Disney trip, breaking and entering in he Magic Kingdom, and identity fraud in North Carolina when he tried to start a Disney themed park on his own.

It would have been nice if Disney had sent them on the trip anyway.

I can almost hear the girlfriend in the car right before he went into the bank....

"I bet you don't even have the guts to go rob that bank! You're a little wuss. I quadruple dog dare ya!"
(he gets out of the car...)
"Okay kids. Cedric is going to go away for a while so it will just be the three of us."

I don't get it. How was he in Florida to go on his cruise but he needed to rob a bank to pay for it? The paid-in-full deadline for Disney Cruise Line is 75 days prior to sailing. I've heard of getting to Orlando early in case something comes up you don't miss your cruise but, geez! 75 days early??? I dunno, y'all. The math ain't addin' up for me. If he was down there for his cruise he'd have had to be paid-in-full. I believe they pull the cruises off the website 3 days prior to sailing. He may have claimed it was to pay for a Disney cruise but I think that's a little off from the whole truth.

Because I was bored and can't sleep, just found Expedia would let me book a cruise right now - 20 minutes to midnight Thursday night - departing Saturday. Now, I'm not robbing a bank for this, but if anyone could help me out with a no-interest loan with an option to repay... :)
