Malestrom and Mexico rides?

I`ve queued for El Rio, but i`ve QUEUED for Maelstrom. As said, the fact El Rio and GF is tucked away with just a few small signs, the fact you can`t see the baots well unless you eat, and Norway has an exterior sign, entrance, FP and the ultimate weenie of the boats being visible helps no end.

Another factor could be hourly capacity. Those Mexico boats hold a lot of people. I don't know the capacity for either, but I'd bet that Mexico's is higher.
I think the points about the girls and the outside entrance are good ones, too. :) I think people are probably just drawn by the Fastpass sign. "Oooh--Fastpass. Must be something good!"

I'm pretty sure they're the same boats. Just like it's the same boats on IASW and POTC.

You walk around the Norway pavillion and you see the sign right in front and can enter the line right through the entrance. In Mexico they do not really have a noticeable sign and you have to walk all the way back to the pavillion to get to it. Plus, as we all know, the rides are very different. More people would be more inclined to ride Malestrom more than once, whereas, the Mexico ride is a ride once (although we usually ride it two times in a row) kind of ride and move on.:)
Not true...

Personally I think Maelstrom is just a tad more entertaining and the fact that it has a drop.

hmmm... maybe you're right... I had in my mind's eye much smaller boats for Norway... but my mind's eye might need glasses...

The Malestrom boats are more like a cross between Splash Mountain and POTC or IASW. I dont think theres much difference in capacity but think Malestrom is a couple people less.

With the masses I believe that Norway is more thrilling and the fact that unless you stop inside of Mexico (or you look at a park map) you don't know the ride is there (but last time I went there were a lot of people in there eating). Also I went there once and there was a line p.s.

But I think the big thing is people rode the Mexican boat ride before and it SUCKED (ok well nothing at Disney sucks, but it was lame, that's all I remember because I was a kid)! I heard they refurbished it and the first time I went on it there was a line and I thought it was pretty cool how they use technology to try and find donald. I think it's a good story for the room they had. The one issue I have with it is when the boats get piled up is right past where they all sing at the end, why couldnt they have bumped that part to the end end (like Jack Sparrow's singing in POTC). THAT I think is the main issue, is not people not knowing, people not remembering because the last time they went on it it was no good (b/c most people aren't like us going multiple times a year, checking for ride updates, etc)

To be honest though, the only countries I go to are Norway and sometimes mexico and I wouldn't even go to Mexico if it wasn't before Norway. I usually just go from test track towards norway, stop at mexico right quick, go on the malstrum, grab a cloudberry horn, and bounce from the park.

And on a side note, who doesn't offer chocolate milk where there are PASTRIES!? Seriously yo, Disney got it right adding chocolate milk at all the dining spots, but now, they're missing it at the most important ones. I bet if they put chocolate milks in Norway, Disney's budget crunch would be solved!

....just my two pennies....

If you want to see a long line at GFT, then go in there when it rains. We were in the pavilion and saw the stampede coming in. I checked...It was raining.

Its all about location. Norways attraction is in the center of the rear of the pavillion and there is the focal point of the overhanging boat before the drop.

In Mexico, the attraction is wedged between the indoor dining and a glass shop. How many people with small kids (which makes up a large portion of guests) are going to take small kids anywhere near a glass shop?

People may assume, but its not true. I learned this after I saw Fastpasses outside SGE

I went on the ride the first time in 1991. Figured I'd try again last June. I think I'm covered now until at least 2029. :snore: That is, unless it starts raining.

You have forgotten to include one other reason that Malestorm has a longer wait than the Three Caballero's.....Norway is heavily staffed with female Norwegian College students.:D

Exactly

but...

there is a GIANT Norwegian guy working there now. his costume is so tiny. he's my favorite part of the post show.

I must admit, I only went on the Norway ride because it had a fastpass lol I wasn't aware there was a ride there until I saw it and we figured if it had a fastpass it must be decent. It's not a bad ride but I wouldn't wait in much of a line for it or anything.

LOL yeah what the heck is that all about, is that ever used? I think thats just a carry over from AE b/c I was in 30 minute lines for that before (like behind the building it was weird), for SGE I only see people waiting outside the door.

Do you think Disney believes they made a blunder adding SGE and taking out AE? Maybe that stitches pavilion that there building is so that they have a stitch ride in tomorrowland for when they bring back AE????? posibility or new thread topic....we shall see.....

Its a stage, not a pavilion.

I loved the 3 Cabelleros!!! And Maelstrom was pretty cool too. In fact, these 2 rides are the only reason we will venture over to the World Showcase again. Our first visit, we spent very little time in Future World because we thought World Showcase would be so much better than what we found it to be. Next trip, more time in Future World, and if there is time, we'll visit Mexico and Norway only for these two rides.
