Maleficent has a new updated look for meet and greet

I'm amazed an entertainment company with film studio and Broadway talent and resources has such awful costumes at times. Prince Phillip is no better, for example.

Yup. It's quite apparent that the various divisions of the Walt Disney Company too often don't speak with each other, or have any way to interact and help each other. Apparently they don't have telephones or reliable Internet in WDW's administration office buildings and those poor folks are cut off from the outside world. They probably can't even order out for lunch.

There are examples of this behavior in many facets of Disney's theme park operations, but here with these character costumes we can see it at its most glaringly obvious.

I'm sure if Maleficent wasn't such a blockbuster at the movies this summer we'd still see the green prosthetic face than the new one. I'm surprised they didn't go for wings.

They had a live-action Maleficent appear in the parks last spring when the movie was previewing. It was a very different look, with different costume and accessories and makeup. But this new actress character is obviously different, and represents the Maleficent character from the 1958 animated film.

Well the "new look" is the exact same costume/makeup as the old, just without prosthetics. Not better.

The new Angelina look, seen in @TP2000's post above, is ACTUALLY great. Stunning, even.

It's not without precedent for a character have an "animated" look vs "live action" look (see Cruella from 1996 - 2000's), usually kept in separate parks (animated Cruella MK/DL, live action Cruella DHS/DCA). There's no reason Maleficent can't be the same way, but the current animated look (and the not better new look) need help.

I know she was out during 24-hour day but very limited, if I'm correct. But she wasn't out regularly was she?

They use slightly different prosthetics at Disneyland for Maleficent, her eyebrows are painted on there instead of being prosthetic which I think looks better. The new WDW (I hope Disneyland doesn't get it) looks much worse than before and she didn't look great then either. However, I think (hope) that these recent Maleficent appearances are training for the Villains Unleashed event and she is appearing as the live action version there. I hope that has something to do with the lack of prosthetics.

I'm afraid this is the new look and these appearances are for the Halloween Party. Unleashed will have the unique live action look from a few posts above

I think this look would be better as the new look than the first new lookpictured.

The dvd is coming out the first of November so I feel like it is a test for the Halloween parties or Villains Unleashed, to promote the dvd. They didn't change the Mad Hatter so I doubt they will permanently change Maleficent. JMO but I would love to meet movie Maleficent that was at the Rock Your Disneyside party!

Is it possible that when they send her out during the day for training (as she is in the "new" photos), they don't apply the prosthetics because under any kind of decent lighting, it's blatantly obvious it's a prosthetic?

I was always told there is a reason why at MNSSHP and other events there's a reason why she's always meeting and greeting in dark, dimly lot, areas, and it's so the prosthetics don't stand out as much.

Maybe this is the case? I'll ask around and see what I can find.

Incidentally, the "new" Maleficent you see in the original post is also friends with Lady Tremaine.

In all previous years daylight greetings she had the prosthetics & all. Nice try.
