Trip Report Makin' Memories....One More Time! *COMPLETED*

Makin' memories
Makin' memories
Takin' pictures is makin' memories
Catchin' little pieces of time
Makin' them yours and makin' them mine
Great vacations and celebrations we love to hold near and dear
And when we're makin' memories
Happy days can reappear!

@amjt660 it seemed a little presumptuous of me to include Three Peat in the title of this trip report. A more accurate term might be Repeat, considering this is my third TR in three months. I am fearful that my WDWMagic friends may be weary of me.

But for @Big Hair and anyone else who wants to follow along, Welcome! I truly love reliving our great (and not-so-great) vacation memories through writing these reports. As always, your comments and observations are much appreciated!

So c'mon everybody, here we go........

Cast: Tuvalu, Woody and Em
Dates: June 17-25, 2017
Resorts: Port Orleans Riverside and Polynesian Village ('cause let's be honest......you can take the girl out of the Poly, but you can't take the Poly out of the girl!)

(Does this picture make you woozy? It is an appropriate representation of my Pandora experience.)

Stick around to discover what memories we made!

Those of you who read my last TR know that I was a little dissatisfied with the Plaza when I lunched with my mom. Since we'd had this ADR for six months (and Woody & Em did not want to cancel), I was willing to give the restaurant another chance. (@disneypearl there are lunch ADRs available from 11am-noon.)

But I was not gonna have a nine dollar shake. :(

I was very pleased with my entree ~ Baked Honey-Barbecued Brisket Mac and Cheese.

The portion was generous and easily shareable. It was so delicious that I devoured most of it!

Em had the Chicken-Strawberry Salad. Very fresh, tasty, and a much healthier option than what I chose! Em really liked the White Zinfandel Vinaigrette and wished the salad had more of it.

Woody ordered his tried-and-true Club.

Declining shakes meant we could have dessert, right?

Caramel Apple Pie a la Mode for Woody.
IMG_4236.JPG

Brownie Sundae for Em. We got it to share but I was so full from my entree that I only had a few bites.
IMG_4237.JPG

Both desserts cost less than a shake!

I was excited to look up from the chocolatety goodness and see who was standing in the doorway.

Christopher George Weaver, Mayor of Main Street USA!

I knew what was coming. Hizzoner was going to appoint the Junior Mayor of the Day.

I did not know that there would be Joint Junior Mayors! Here they are reciting the oath of office.

IMG_7522.JPG

On his way out the Mayor stopped by our table to wish Woody a Happy Father's Day. I wish this photo wasn't backlit. :(

Lunched ended up being a great experience. I just wish the Plaza hadn't increased the prices to ridiculous levels. At the end of the day it's still just a diner. (Albeit in the MK.)

Raise your hand if you're ready for a picture-heavy Jungle Cruise post....actually two posts since I have more photos than allowed per post.

Those whose hands are down may want to skip(per) ahead. :hilarious:

I believe I told Em, "Take lots of pics." She did. She's always been a compliant child.

Another long FP line. This time everyone did have FPs.

You gotta love a CM who takes his job seriously.

Nothing says, "Jungle Fun" like walking around with a giant leaf on your head.

How appropriate that the "Weeping Wandas" (going back in TR history here) get to ride on the "Wamba Wanda"!!

(To clarify, Woody is NOT a Wanda.)

It is a little surreal riding on a bendy, when the front half of the bus turns and the back half is still facing forward!

Hee hee . . . I've ridden the articulated buses many times in the city. It just cracks me up when people down at WDW think they're some sort of "attraction" in themselves. Glad you enjoyed your ride in them! ;) :p

And in the name of research, I decided to try out the new restrooms by the bus depot.

Always appreciate your roving reporter bathroom reviews! :joyfull: No where else but in your TRs, have I found such concise details--definitely part of the overall park planning itinerary for many of us! :D

By the way, are those new, blue sneakers? I like the color.

Sunday, June 17

I was the first one up and out the door to pick up breakfast ~ it was Father's Day, after all! Woody deserved to be waited on. :) (Although why wasn't his daughter out serving him rather than his wife?)

It was a beautiful sunshiny morning and the humidity was very low, definitely rare during summer in FL! On my peaceful walk to Riverside Mill I could hear the background music as well as chirping birds. Both put me in a really good mood.

The food court was not crowded and I was in and out with brekkie (a nod to @JenniferS) in no time. On my walk back I noticed the lifeguard CMs stationed in various spots ready to cheer on the participants in the Beignet Run. One even did a cheer for me!

Both Woody and Em were awake when I returned and we enjoyed a nice breakfast. Woody opened a very sweet card from our daughter-in-law-to-be and they messaged each other. It was a special start to his day.

We brought our luggage to Bell Services to be "magically transported" to the Poly. I counted 50 (yes 50!) ECV's outside Bell Services. (There were multiple strollers too, but the ECVs really stood out.) Task completed, we went to the bus stop.

(Note what Em is wearing as her outfit will be somewhat ironic later.)

This bad boy pulled up.

Em and I have ridden an articulated (I prefer "bendy") bus when we stayed at Pop. But this would be Woody's maiden voyage.

Bendy buses from POR only go to the MK ~ but I'm certain all you smart people already knew where we were headed.

I see your celebrity status extends to the public lav-oratories.
Ha! Trust me if someone had been in there I would not have taken the picture. :D

It's been about 15 years since we last ate at the Plaza, but your pictures make me want to give it another go! I will not however be ordering a $9 milkshake...!
After I posted I checked the current menu online. Seems the regular milkshake has returned! It is $7 (formerly was $5) but certainly better than the $9 all-you-can-drink shake (which is still on the menu.)
