With the exception of a handful onsite resorts, there's no real benefit to staying within the bubble for the price point WDW wants. Art of Animation (as an example) is priced competitively with the Gaylord Palms... and we all know which one is the better resort. Only advantage is the transportation, but playing around with dates you can take into account parking/Uber costs and it'll be cheaper.

I do wonder how the “off property” patterns have shifted these last few years?

You mean to tell me that these prices people are staying in a vrbo or La Quinta on I-drive and streaming in to pay up with consistency?

I have a hard time believing that it’s the case

There are several vacation villa complexes close to WDW that offer massive accommodations with amenities. They can easily handle multiple families, allowing them to spread the costs out and not break the bank, plus it allows those families to visit the parks on their schedule, not Josh and Jeff's. Sadly, I cannot find the links I had to a few in the area. One was offering up to *9* bedroom villas which included a private pool, kids play area, theater room...

Oh there is definitely a market for the parties of 27…no doubt

The one thing you can be assured of is Orlando completely outbuilding demand and creating a glut…what’s that place that backs up to DAKL?

I was thinking more those that don’t travel with an entire zip code…the “nookular” family?

I’m wondering if that demo - once the backbone - actually really exists now?

Yes it does.

Those gated complexes within a 30 minute radius cater for regular families too. 4 bedroom villas with private pool, plus the “club house” and amenities.

My question is more how many “off property” traditional family groups are entering the compound each day? If Disney can’t fill its rooms - which it cannot…BS aside - what’s the off property market look like?

It is hard to gauge…there really is no answer…just a poll question

This is the stuff that spins my wheels…not buying line skips or asking “how magical is port?”

There is more to the bubble, starting with the actual bubble. The outside world disappears, in my experience.

But we do give up quality of accommodation in order to afford it, sadly.

The rub is that “bubble” has changed greatly over time

If you line up what a stay actually looked like in 5 year increments over time…it would be eye opening

Those of us that go back are in a way “cursed” by it.

Yes, there's still the advantage of escaping the real world... but Disney has raised prices so much that you can probably spend the same amount on a 2nd visit if you choose a offsite resort.

If you're visiting the parks, I'd personally rather save money on hotel accommodations and either spend/save for a 2nd visit or purchase more F&B/merch within the parks.

I have a very strong feeling that you're going to see a lot of love thrown to AP Holders and Florida Residents, with also an emphasis on getting guests who've moved past Disney to come back. (Now that they desperately need us)

Keep in mind that Room Discounts and free dining are the smallest levers to pull.

My guess is that it's not going to move the needle and bigger things are going to get pulled.
