Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Why wouldn't the bypass be themed like planned Edison Square or Liberty Street from the 1962 map? I cannot believe an un-themed area in the park.

I think the bypass has a nice light theme to it. It fits right in with Main Street theming. I'll have to dig up some pics I have from one of the last times I was there this past spring. There is railing similar to railing in Castle Hub with several trees and shrubs throughout. Plus the back of Mainstreet Buildings are now themed as well.
Below is a Google Earth screen grab.
I especially like the hidden cast paths that double as large vehicle gates. So, that even then they are in closed position they look like a hidden walkway.
I have noted the walkways in teal that even when closed allow cast access to various areas behind Mainstreet East.

Photo update as of Wednesday, October 26. Because the following refurbishment impacts the hub view of Cinderella Castle, I posted this here. The façade of the Sir Mickey's store visible to the right of the castle is behind scaffolding and scrims for refurbishment. There is a construction wall blocking the path behind Fairytale Garden (which is still open) and another wall behind the castle next to Sir Mickey's. This current blocked area is smaller than when blocked by the crane during Christmas light installation. Sir Mickey's is still open.

Looks like they are just refurbing Sir Mickey's building area. Similar to what they did earlier this Spring to the Castle Couture building. Now that the crane is out of the way and it is still the sorta-slow season before the holidays. It's a good time for some refurb work. No castle work going on based on pics, that was handled when crane was doing holiday lights on castle concurrently. If you see in the last pic the refurb wall runs up to the edge of the castle and toward Sir Mickey's. It's just blocking guest access yet still looks clean.

So when's this crap supposed to be finally done? We're heading down the first week of December, hopefully it's done by then.. It's only been 17 years since they started working this project. ;)

Refurbs are crap? Painting and sprucing things up is crap? Maintenance is crap?
Or, it's all good as long as it doesn't impact your vacation?

Tale as old as time ....

I know it's not crap. It's a noun used in lieu of 'work'. comon' now.. I'm just saying, this 'refurb' has taken a long time to complete. Like all things WDO centric.

anyways, isn't that was this forum is for? complaining about everything? lol.. I mean, there's no tangled bathroom in development is there? now THAT I'd be mad about.

Technically the refurb work going on behind the castle in Fantasyland at Sir Mickey's is not Hub related at all. In fact if they would have left the trees alone you likely would not have been able to see much of the scrim from the hub area.

Not sure why this stuff has been posted in this HUB thread. Just because you can see refurb work from the Hub area does not make it HUB related work. Might as well complain about the work in tomorrowland and the scaffolding around Space Mountain in here too.

People complain too much about refurb work that needs to be done to keep the place in shape. I get it that some people spend thousands of $$$ to visit and are greeted with scrims, down rides, etc. But if refurbs are not done then we would be left with something like this, in not much time at all.

In a place where there is never a down day. Work must be done during guest hours. Some things can be done at night out of guest eyes, but others not so much.

But hey, at least there would be no scrims.
rant over....
