Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Unless you consider that ALL of the parks are essentially a stage. It's there for our entertainment, not a place to keep monuments for people to glance at on the way by because they were there when they were kids. Even Walt said the the parks would be ever changing to fit the needs of the general public and to remain current.

I still think they could fix this by adding a couple trees on either side of the stage by the castle. You'd preserve the sightlines from the hub for the fireworks and projections and have trees in the view when you looked down Main Street towards the castle.

Why is everyone so obsessed with the scrims. Would you rather see sweaty construction workers on scaffold platforms? What was delivered to the site were the skeletal frames of the towers. Now they have to do wiring and put the external faux stone on the outside to match it with the castle. In other words the finishing work plus the roof. I'd much rather see some painted trees then that. Always remember that they don't even have to do that. Canvas drops will do the same thing. It is a long way from done. Patience is something that the average Disney fan apparently does not possess.

I don't get all the hate on the light posts. At ground level they're tall and easy to ignore, though I do wish the lights up top were neater. What bugs me more are the large cylinders on the decorative light posts, likely hiding speakers and possibly a DAS. As they are right down in the view plane I find them quite distracting.

Iiiinteresting. I wonder what that'll look like. *cough cough someone photoshop it cough cough*

Well if you can find some old pics, the inner turrets are replacing the large blue and gold "boxes" that were speaker stacks with lights behind them, and the outer turrets are replacing the copper-roofed pavilions whose design matched the former snack stands in the southern part of the Hub.

You can see the blue and yellow boxes/banners on either side, plus the tech position just above the pink flower baskets in the far left of this pic. So I'd say at the most from the end of Main Street closest the castle you'd see the inner turrets a bit, maybe a little of the tech booth turrets. From the Town Square end of Main Street probably nothing of them at all.

Not really much to see right now. Only thing that should see completion soon (before the end of the month) is the second half of the central hub with the new concrete, planters and lighting.

I really hope so. I know we are in a growing phase right now, but we are going the 20th-25th for my friend's 30th and the thought of Partners in a box is such.a.bummer. Would love to at least see that bit finished up by the time we get there. With the 24 hr party that Friday, I'm thinking this is prob a reasonable expectation.
