I live in KY, been to Kings Island many times in my life. I still love that place. It did seem weird to be there after they removed all the ties to Paramount. All the rides names were changed etc... Gotta admit, I miss the old park I grew up with, (yeah I was a kid running around Nickelodeon's Splat City...) but I still love KI and hope it doesn't lose any more of its character. ...Also, Diamondback is AMAZING.

Sry, back to the topic.

I live just north of Louisville and we used to take a lot of trips to KI when I was a kid (albeit during trips back home to the US) and I can remember that park from days before Paramount. Wow. Now I just feel old. :jawdrop:

I grew up in Louisville, and visited Kings Island a few times. But we always had season passes to Kentucky Kingdom. I heard that place went down hill :(

the opposite for my opinion lol.
Yeah when I first looked at it I didn't even notice the printed scrim. I just assumed we were talking about the big black scrim on the left side of the castle facing Main St.

I imagine it's not fooling anyone who is there in person, but I'm sure it does well for photos in the daytime.

I lived near Dayton, and went to KI a bunch back in the 70's. Sad to hear about the changes.

Eh, for those of us lucky enough to grow up with pre-Paramount/CBS Kings Island, you'd see that the damage was done the second Paramount came in.

I commend Cedar Fair for what they've done with what was a thematic mess.

That Carowinds entry plaza though, no excuse for that. Yuck.

Scrim doesn't work great from every angle :)

It has reopened under new management. They're even going to expand it.

In the words of Lee Corso, Not so fast my friend. The current(and previous before he sold it to SIX) lessee, Ed Hart, did reopen the park last year, but it had a very rocky season to say the least. The current deal allows the Kentucky Fair Board to review the lease at the end of this upcoming season. If 2015 is like 2014, don't expect the park to make it to 2016.

However, it is still open under new management. Six Flags no longer has a say so in the matter.

Correct. They bailed several years ago. The Kentucky Fair Board holds all the cards now, since the park is on their property. There is much discord between the two entities. Just last year, those attending the KY State Fair were barred from entering KK unless they paid $19.99. The Fair then brought in its own midway operator to counter this. Needless to say, it was a mess. I live 2 hours from both KK and Kings Island and I have happily been a KI season pass holder for over 10 years now. Much cleaner, better rides, very safe area and management who gets it. (The current head of the chain that owns KI is Matt Ouimet, who was a rock star when he worked at Disney).

To be clear the Kentucky State Fair brings in their own midway every single year.

This doesn't have to do specifically with the hub, but Orlando Theme Park News just posted a new update that shows the newly-refurbished buildings on Main Street.

What do you guys think of the new color scheme on the Cinema? I kind of like it! It's different.
