Main Street Electrical parade not running in August?

I am en route to the magic and have been checking out parade times on the WDW site.

Currently the MK calendar shows there is NO electrical parade, either SM or MSEP during the first 2 weeks of August. SM returns on the 15th Aug according to the site.

Can anybody confirm if this is correct or an oversight on the website. I arrive August 1st and would be gutted if there were no light parades until August 15th as advertised

There has been a fair amount of dicussion about this. I am heading down Aug 7. The WDW calendar has been updated daily and MSEP appears and disappears. It seems that MSEP has had some problems running but it would have to run through the 15th as advertised. I am also awaiting for them to add 2 showtimes of the parade. But they seem to be very slow. There has been theories that MSEP is staying at least for 2 years.

So is it running or not??? We are going on Aug 13th and I was so looking forward to seeing it!!! I sure hope so b/c we won't me back again till December and if I understand correctly, it ends the 15th of August.

Aside from the possibility that MSEP MIGHT stay, Does anyone think that the other Summer Nightastic offerings, mainly the fireworks, might be extended for a few more weeks past the 14th of August?

This would be a public relations nightmare for Disney if they had so many problems with MSEP that they had to cancel it after they advertised it so much. A lot of people made plans to go down there and see it.

If this is a real problem, it is one that Disney needs to fix IMMEDIATELY.

My guess is that the problems have been more with the web site than the parade. I know I've read reports of the odd missing float, or a float present in the parade but not fully functional. But if Disney had failed to run MSEP as scheduled, I'm sure we'd be hearing about it.

On the other hand, it is not unusual for the calendar pages at the official WDW web site to have incorrect or incomplete information, or to disappear completely. My guess would be that different pieces of calendar information are pulled from different internal databases, and when one of those databases goes offline or is being updated the information it contains simply disappears from the calendar.

I've heard nothing to suggest that MSEP will be ending it's run early, or that it has had technical problems so severe as to cause the parade's cancellation, and therefore I wouldn't worry about it too much.

At the absolute minimum, MSEP's final run is the 14th, though it is generally accepted it will be staying longer than that, perhaps to the end of the year.

Not likely. The Nighttastic fireworks shoot is incredibly expensive and if what we have been told in the past is correct Disney has only ordered enough shells to get them through the 14th.

I was wondering the same thing. I was going with the assumption that MSEP would be running the same time as before during this week, but wasn't completely sure.

I really hope that we will be able to see it before it leaves (or if it stays). :lol:

I have a somewhat off-topic dumb question. Is the MSEP replacing SpectroMagic? Or will SpectroMagic be returning soon? Reason why I ask is because we are going down to the World in November and SpectroMagic is our favorite parade. And we were wondering if we should prepare ourselves not to see it this year.

I have never seen the MSEP, and I live in Los Angeles and have gone to Disneyland quite a few times! I've seen YouTube videos and it just looks wonderful, especially the music.

We're going in December....hope WDW decides to keep it until the end of the year!

I hope that is true, last time I saw it was 2000, my father who will be meeting us for a few days in Nov has not seen it since before it was replaced by spectro and my kids have never seen it.

I have to disagree. The music (from the 1970's) makes the parade. It is way better than the SpectroMagic music...

The only official date that Disney has given is the Aug 14th date. Most sources seem to indicate it will stay around for a while, but nothing formal and official has been announced. My guess would be that on the 15th they announce it will be held over due to overwhelming popular demand.

Hopefully you are correct. Checked the calender for September, it list Spectro Magic as the parade.

I got to see the new summer fireworks and loved it. I'm growing tired of Wishes and hope they rethink a new show. (I know I'm about to get slammed for this.)

Just wish they'd announce it NOW! I love Spectro and could care less about the MSEP - so if they'd announce it now, I'd prepare myself. But if the calendar two weeks from now still says Spectro, I may be a little p-o'd when I get there to find MSEP. :dazzle:

Spectro is on there now. But I have a strong feeling MSEP is not going anywhere for at least a few months.
