Main Street Electrical Parade dark in early 2012

Wow, I don't usually complain about attractions being down but there are alot of things closed in late January when we are taking my grandson for his birthday. He should have had the sense to be born at a better time of year I guess! We will not be able to have him see either Fantasmic! or the Main Street Electrical Parade during our stay there (his first trip). Oh well there is still plenty to do.

Yes, but waiting and watching the parade in MK is one of the more memorable. I guess they have to work on things like this at some point. Still, must be disappointing.

I got SO excited when I read that headline, hoping Spectro was coming back! :ROFLOL::sohappy::lol::D

But alas. MSEP continues. It was cool the first 2 times I saw it. Now I want Spectro back!:cry::cry::brick::brick::(

Now that's the Disney I love - Giving guests just 45 days of advance notice on a closure of attraction.

Disneyland's been doing this for over 2 years now. They don't even post hours until about 6 weeks out either. Disney World's usual advanced notice is actually very reasonable in comparison. No big deal here.

It is kind of a big deal to me. I rented vacation club points from someone. Not much I can do about changing dates now. I honestly figured with Thunder closed, they wouldn't shut anything else down for that time. I really enjoy the MSEP.

One downside to renting points - It's very difficult to change your dates.

Having grown up on MSEP, I wrote off SpectroMagic after sampling the music track before watching the actual parade. To my surprise, I absolutely fell in love with it after finally seeing it in person. Something about that orchestral soundtrack blaring loud really moves me.

Seeing MSEP was nice for nostalgia's sake, but "Baroque Hoedown" can really get on my nerves after while (even more so than "it's a small world").

I do hope SpectroMagic returns by next summer.

It should permanently go dark. It does not have the fun factor it once did and the remixed ditty sounds too weird for my tastes. Bring back Spectro and its awesome music! :xmas:

With MSEP going dark, maybe they will consider bringing Spectro back to the Magic Kingdom and try MSEP over at DHS. Having a nighttime parade at DHS would be very good for the nights that Fantasmic doesn't perform to keep the crowds there. I know its wishful thinking and dreaming, but it would be nice to have a choice to see a nighttime parade at either MK or DHS. The only concern may be storage of the floats at DHS.

It's a good parade - but not a parade I'd consider having a let down of a vacation for. It's the same as it was 39 years ago - not much changes on it.

Is it bad I was disappointed that it wasn't closed while I was there? I love the parade, but hate staking out and defending (especially defending) my spot on the curb and waiting around with anxious kids. Not worth it to me and if the rest of the family didn't love it so much, we would skip it.

I'm so glad they've finally said something. Back when I booked my trip, I knew MSEP was scheduled for 1/28 and then magically one day it was gone, and I noticed it was missing from the calendar from 1/20-2/11 and it was really irking me that the parade had just vanished for 3 weeks... I'm sad to be missing it, since i missed it at Halloween due to MNSSHP, but im glad to know its for a good reason and it won't be leaving soon... I LOVE MSEP!
