What if as the next “experiment” is playing the new Mickey Mouse shorts in there?

*shivers*
that would be blasphemy. I don't even like they are going add benches in there. just put it back the way it was and walk away. it was perfect the way it was for years. it is nice to have a quiet little spot to go to to relax for a few minutes where you are not being pushed by some chinese group trying to get to the next ride. that actually happened to me.

I glanced at it the other night... it wasn't as bad as I thought, but still a disgrace. Personally if they sold cuts of old film strips of the cartoons, old Disney films, and original animation cells... I might be ok with it (being cinema related merch).

Concerning the NEW mickey cartoons... I honestly would be ok if they used the screens to show Mickey cartoons and their animation through the years. Problem with that is all the cartoons except the first few need sound and with how small the space is, I'm not sure if it'd work. The cinema works as it is because the single soundtrack fits with all the films.

I'd also be in favor of a rotation of vintage Mickey cartoons. Keep Steamboat Willie always playing, but cycle in different cartoons throughout the day as well, to help diversify the offerings.

Upgrade the projection system so that the cartoons are actually decent quality. Disney has HD masters of those shorts, they can pay for better projectors to give them the respect they deserve.

Some benches + Mickey Cartoons? I'd be grabbing ice cream from the Gibson Girl and spending at least 15 minutes or so there every trip when the sun's out and it's blistering hot outside.

Does anyone know what used to show on the screen now covered by a curtain? They never open it anymore and I can't remember what they used to show on that screen.

I'd be for that, but I'd also want the new shorts in there too. I know they aren't popular amongst some here, but they are part of Mickey's history. So use Main St. Cinema as a history of Mickey through the years retrospective. It'd also be good to have the new shorts playing when MMRR opens.

I guess I view Main Street Cinema slightly different... in it's current form I view it as a celebration of the heart of the company- the cartoons that put Disney on the map and led to everything that followed. From that perspective, it's almost the heart of Disneyland- a place where they pay tribute to what made the company.

The biggest issue with the newer cartoons is that they're sound reliant, so they wouldn't mix well having 6 playing at once.

I can see your point. But with Disney looking for new ways to get people in there, its going to change. So I rather them use it to show Mickey through the years than anything else.

And to be honest they should have done the Mickey history retrospective in there for his birthday. Its what I thought they would do, but didn't pull the trigger.
