Is there still a discount for people staying on resort and a website that allows you to purchase them ahead of time? I saw on the FAQ that there would be a discount.. but how much? And have they shown up yet on that site?
There is, but they aren't showing up yet so we don't know what the discount might be. Hopefully they will open that up at some point tomorrow as well.

I'm seeing 9.99 off regular colors and 14.99 off LR or Exclusive tagged ones. If I had to guess I'd say they go with the $15 off on the MB+ discount with an on site stay.

What about those of us who bought regular magic bands with our resort stay discount before we knew the new ones were being released? Probably just out of luck I imagine.

Patience is a virtue. (that i don't have)

I was thinking about this too. They should have let resort guests prepurchase at least a week ago!

To paraphrase, you are more than welcome to purchase a MagicBand+ and link it to your account. MagicBand+, like MagicBand 2 and MagicBand are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Please understand that is direct from Disney, not from me. I think it's crappy, but that's where Disney is with this. I have friends going in 10 days, and they have their MB2s. They are probably not getting the MB+s.

See, if you had just not purchased a MB2.0 and waited in total uncertainty as to when the MB+ would be released... 😂 Unfortunately, yeah, you're out of luck unless you want to buy the new thing and eat the cost of the old thing. :(

Wonder if Disney would ever be willing to give discounts for in person purchases when you bring in your old band? i.e. $5 off purchase

I'm going to buy a MB+ to save money.

This way, I won't have to buy a MB 2.0 every two years due to a depleted battery. In just two years, it is the cheaper option.

If people don't make use of what a MB 2.0 can do, then just hold onto your one and only MB 1.0. and spend nothing more.

From an environmental point of view, less plastic and batteries are introduced into the world.
Personally, now that they support BLE (via the MDX app) for linking ride photos, the long range battery being dead is less of an issue for me. Theoretically, as long as I have my phone on me (and the battery isn’t dead) ride photos should link automatically, from my understanding.

If it becomes better/more reliable I would agree with you. I had a trip of complete failures in the fall. I will consider one of the MB+ just for rides as well. Or as a backup if phone gets drained (which hasn't happened but you never know)

One thing I’m not sure about here is how long range photo linking works for MB+. If the MB+ uses BLE for it, then it should be the same (in terms of reliability) as the MDX app on a smartphone.

If it uses the same custom long-range RFID as the standard MBs, then the reliability would match that.

The MB+ already supports / uses BLE for other functionality, so I can see Disney opting to just use that, to reduce costs.
