magical smells

According to the short lived Disney Channel series "Inside Disney" it is just vanilla that they keep pumping out.

But, whatever it really is, it works on me. :ROFLOL:

Victoria's Secret pumps vanilla into their stores, too. It is supposedly rated, by men, as the sexiest smell.

As a person with allergies and asthma, I'm good with the outdoors smells and have never had a problem with any of the Disney attractions, but I could sure due without the stench at my local mall! There are stores I have to cross the mall to avoid. If only everyone had the subtlety of Disney!

This is waaay off topic, well at least a little...

It's amazing how easy it is to link smells to great experiences. When I went to WDW 9 years ago I accidentally packed a scented deodorant (Powder scented SURE). I NEVER wear scented deodorant...I'm kind of a deodorant snob. I hold the position that if you have to tart your armpits up with the scent of flowers or spices, you should probably take a shower. :ROFLOL:

There has been a time or two in the years since that visit that the store has been out of the unscented and I've given in and grabbed powder rather than drive to another store. Every day until that stick runs out I get a brief trip back to WDW when I apply the deodorant. To me, the Movies resort will forever be linked to Powder Fresh Sure!

Smells

When you go into the confectionary shop on Main St. look up right when you walk in aside from the a/c there is a fan blowing as you walk in and out of the store..Tempting you to buy all the snacks...Its smells delicious..They do no baking on the property anything done is either underground or brought in.

That's too funny.

It's sort of a tradition that I wear Issey Miyake when we go to WDW. Not sure how or when it got started but now every single time I put it on my wife runs in the room and says....DISNEY TRIP!!!

As mentioned above, all of the water rides have that certain smell that to me defies description, but WDW is the only place I've ever encountered it.

I smelled that smell in a casino one time when I was standing next to a fountain. I think it's the mold from the water ride itself mixed with the A/C, and a little bit of old grease. Smells 100% fantastic in PoTC.

I've been going since I was a little kid (89,91,93,95,97,2000,2008, and some I don't remember the dates on) and by far my favorite smells are the smell of the grand floridian or the polynesian resort on a hot florida morning, it smells humid and green. Hard to describe, but it just smells like vacation to me.

The smell of main street in MK in the morning. All the sweet shop smells just pour into the street. Also walking by Caseys. :p

I think Disney is very proud of their perfected Chocolate Chip cookie smell. Next to the machine is a huge label that proudly boasts what it is.

Aye, mold makes many of the great smells that we know and love. Monorail and PotC are naturally scented ,

Being in a monorail brings back memories of sailing. The cabin of a fiberglass sailboat has the exact same smell. It's hard to keep the Floridian driving rain out of anything, especially from a 40mph fiberglass tube which probably has seals that have seen better days.

The monorail is the only smell I can say I don't like --- smells like a retirement home.

I'm not sure how long this has been, but they don't actually use that machine anymore. There was a nice big out-of-commission tag on the machine as of last week on the backstage MK tour. The designers just re-routed the ventillation system in the bakery to fan out onto the street so you smell the real smells now!
