Magical Moments

  • Seeing my 4-year-old's face the first time she met the princesses was pretty priceless. It was one of those moments that brings a tear to your eye.
  • The parade coming through literally the moment we stepped onto Main Street USA. It almost felt like they put the parade on just to welcome us to the park!
  • Being treated like a VIP when we went to California Grill to celebrate my 30th birthday and our 10th wedding anniversary... The staff was so amazing to us!
  • Watching my oldest's face when she got to watch The Little Mermaid show in HS.

We won a trip through Downtown Disney Resort Hotels in 2011 for the A+ teacher award. We got to travel with our daughter's special ed teacher whom we nominated. She also happened to be a friend of ours, so it was perfect. As if that wasn't magical enough, we went to Magic Kingdom the morning of our last day before our friend and her daughter got there. We started at the bakery, where Grace was given a huge cookie because of her Birthday button. We went to the Emporium next and she was given a princess pin. We were both just in total shock but as we headed out of the Emporium, a cast member stopped us and told us Grace had a phone call. Goofy was calling to sing Happy Birthday to her. I was almost in tears at that point, but it gets better. We went into the little hat shop near the confectionary and the ladies in there were gushing over Grace and her birthday button and let us pick out a pair of ears to be embroidered. At this point, I was just completely overwhelmed! You see, our daughter has signficant developemental delays, although she appears very typical. We have to get a wheelchair for her in the parks due to mobility issues and vision issues. She really doesn't react to much or get too excited over anything, but I could tell that day that she was totally soaking in all the extra attention. Me, on the other hand, I was an emotional mess! Disney really knows how to make a grown adult feel like a child again!! That's what takes us back over and over again!

Back in the Year of a Million Dreams, my friend and I were walking into the park after a swim at our hotel (this was DL) and a couple came up to us. They had just won the Dream Fastpasses and were leaving for the day and wanted us to have them. Nothing was used on it. We were thrilled. I still have it hanging on my disney board.

Before we met Anna and Elsa this past December, my daughter Charley made a 'Frozen' pressed penny at Epcot that had A & E's pictures on it. She said "I'm going to show it to them" and put it in her pocket. She showed it to Anna and Anna made a HUGE deal about it; asking her where she got it and how neat it was. Then she asked Charley "Where can I find a Charley penny? I'd really like one. I'm going to send out all the palace guards to find me one!" After we walked away Charley says "Anna wants a Charley penny!".

The night before meeting A & E, we waited in line to see Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip at MVMCP and it was cold. Not "Florida Cold". Real cold. Anyway, after waiting about 45 minutes we made it up to the front of the line and the CM says "The Princesses and Princes will be taking a short break in a few minutes, but they will be back". So we thought we'd either have to wait until they got back, or Charley would have a a short interaction. Well, we made it up to the front and Aurora and Phillip talked to Char for a good 10 minutes. Then the fireworks started so they took her by the hand and they walked over to watch them. Then as they left for their break they told us that Charley could come stay with them at their castle anytime and stay as long as she wanted.

In 2012, My wife, myself, and my 2 year old daughter went to WDW with my brother and his family and my mother. We were watching the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It Parade. I was wearing a Saints t-shirt. One of the girls in the parade asked me if I was from New Orleans. I stated yes. She said she was from Houma ( about 45 min. south of New Orleans ). She took my daughter and got her to dance with Chip and then Donald Duck. My daughter was awe struck and had the time of her life. My mom had emergency surgery three days after we got back from WDW and, sadly, died the day after. It meant so much to me that she got to spend that time with her grandchildren. I now have a son who is 16 months old and we are going back in 6 weeks! Can not wait to go make some new memories!

11 years ago, on my senior trip, my friends and I were walking around Animal Kingdom discussing how we thought Disney should run the world since the CMs are all so friendly, kind and amazing and it would make the world a better place (haha, we were 17, don't judge!). A CM in Harambe stopped us and asked what our plans were for the afternoon. We responded saying we sadly had to leave soon to go back to the resort with our student group before dinner. She said, "Oh, but I was going to ask if you wanted to be in the parade today!" WHAT?! Of course we would love to be in the parade... don't worry we'll work it out!

We RAN to the front of the park to meet our chaperones, informed them of our good fortune, and they graciously allowed us to stay late to be in the parade. I quickly called my cousin who lived nearby and had an annual pass and she raced over to take pictures of us from the crowd.

We were ushered back stage, given Mickey safari hats and safari vests, earplugs (which were not needed, haha) and a disposable camera (so long as we promised not to take pics back stage!). I got to sit on a float behind Donald (my favorite!) and sing and dance with my friends while waving at the crowd. I don't know if anything can ever top that!

I'm the dork in lime green. :p

The most magical part of the parade, however was when I spotted a little girl dressed as Belle in the crowd, pointed at her and then pointed to the fake Belle tattoo on my arm, and gave her a thumbs up. She started jumping up and down and waving. Makes me smile just thinking about it!

When Mickey Mouse was 80, there was a meet and greet and I was on holiday with my 95 year old great gran, as the lady was telling the crowd old Mickey mouse was today we proceeded to tell the lady the age of my gran. The lady then announced it to the whole crowd and brought my gran to the front where Mickey Mouse gave her a gaint kiss, and the whole crowd cheered as my gran told Mickey that she remembered when he was first created. Now at 99 she still remembers this magical moment.

I have been thinking of what would be the most magical moment which is different than the thankful post I have already left. I have so many fond memories. As a child I was blessed to spend many summer vacations with my mother, father, grandmother, and great-grandmother at Disney. My children also got to experience Disney with their great grandmother in 2012 which was very special. I think for us it's more of a magical trip than a magical moment. This past August we took a much-needed surprise trip. I was able to keep the trip a complete secret from my children for eight months. They were 13 & 15. We woke them up at 4:42 AM one morning and said we're going to Disney for two weeks. My father passed away two days after Christmas 2013. It'd been a rough several years and our family needed some healing time. We were able to plan this trip and do things that our children had never been able to do before such as parasailing, Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique, rent sea raycers and my daughter donated her hair to locks of love at the barber shop on Main Street. My son tells me every so often that it was the best trip ever and that means so much! I told them it was the last thing Grandpa was able to do for them. And I don't think they will ever forget it.

One of the most magical moments I had was on our last trip in August 2014. We went to Town Hall in MK to ask when and where Peter Pan would be meeting & greeting. One Cast Member was already helping us and went to find out. While we were waiting for her to come back, another Cast Member behind the desk called us over. We politely told her we were being helped and she replied "It doesn't matter. I just want to know what your favorite ride is." I said Peter Pan's Flight and my friend said Splash Mountain. Then she wrote out two "front of the line" passes for both attractions. Then she said "you also have to try Snow White's new ride" and she wrote a third pass for the Mine Train. We were so grateful! We stayed and talked to Claire for another 20 minutes. And at the end she gave us each a roll of Mickey stickers for our classes when we returned to school.

Love Claire in Town Hall! Love Disney!

I have four Magical Memories from my third visit to WDW mainly my experience meeting Marie at the Magic Kingdom.

1.) I remember making Marie feel very flattered and shy around me when I told her I been looking everywhere for her during my first few days at the WDW resort. Mainly since I remember feeling sad when I visited the France Pavilion and remembering that Marie used to do meet and greets there (She did return to doing meet and greets at the same pavilion on January 2015 during the winter season) along with the fact that I learned that Marie didn't come out that day due to the weather since it was raining earlier. Since I was a little disappointed on my first day when I didn't see Marie out at the flag pole. I decided to buy an autograph book and meet talking Mickey that day and asked him if he seen her that day. He said something like "Gosh I haven't seen her" with a female CM letting me know that she was going to be out that day. Anyway back to my meeting with Marie on my last two days at WDW. I remember after she became very bashful she kept on giving me extra big hugs. I remember hearing Marie whisper "Aww" to me when I hugged her for the last time and even kissed me a couple times along with kissing my autograph book. Before Marie arrived, one female cast member who had a Spanish accent, made me first in line to meet Marie since she was my favorite Disney character since I was little and was really excited to meet her. She even told use that Marie comes out around 10:30am. The experience was very emotional but I didn't show my true feelings until I got inside my room in the All-Star Sports Resort and began crying myself to sleep (Since that day we had to head to DownTown Disney (Now Disney Springs) later that evening mainly for La Nouba) both of happiness and sadness.

2.) On my final day, on our way to the Magic Kingdom for the last time. I was writing a couple cute and sweet messages on my autograph book for Marie to read (Which I was going to say in person on my first encounter but I was to tongue-tied to tell her this) while we rode on the Disney Bus Transportation to the Magic Kingdom. When I got there, I handed her my autograph book and she took a moment to read what I wrote. She kissed both sides and began signing it. When she got finished singing it, I told her it was my last day at Walt Disney World and she made a crying gesture with both of her paws by strolling them down her eyes. After she hugged me again for the last time, I whispered to her "I Love You" and when I was leaving the line she blew three kisses back at me. This made me no longer sad for leaving Walt Disney World and made me excited for visiting WDW again in the future mainly for my plan on doing the Disney College Program and my dreams of working at the Walt Disney World Resort.

3.) Later at the Magic Kingdom on my first day, I told my High School Principal that he was looking for Mickey. I told him where Mickey can be found out. When we had dinner at DownTown Disney's House Of Blues on my second to last day. He told me that Mickey said
That's a big responsibility" after he told Mickey he was the principal of my High School. After the trip, I got a special award from my High School honoring how much I educated them about Disney and the history of WDW since they we're unaware about the parks history and advice for where the characters can be found at.

4.) On my final day, I meet Mickey one last time at the Magic Kingdom and I told him that I finally meet Marie. He remembered my question about where she was at on my first day. He even gave me two thumbs up to congratulate my meeting her twice. Mickey also made a funny look when I told him Minnie kissed me at Epcot at one point during my trip.

After I proposed to my now-wife, we went to extra magic hours at DHS and rode Rock'n'Roller coaster. We posed for the on-ride photo in a way that made it obvious I'd just put a ring on her finger.

We went to the photo station in the gift shop and had the CM pull up the photo.. she picked up on what was happening and said "I'm going to make this a Magical Moment". She zoomed in on the photo so that you could only see us two and not the two guests in the second row of our ride vehicle and printed the photo for us FOR FREE! We've since asked CM's if they could do the same thing for us (zoom in on just us) and they've all said they cannot do it.

She wrote up a little "Magical Moments" certificate to commemorate it. This was back in 2012.

Also, I was planning to propose to my then-girlfriend on a pontoon boat for a Wishes Cruise (I had let them know at the dock months ahead of time that I was planning to propose). When I got to the dock at Grand Floridian, the CM's there upgraded me to the Grand One (basically our own private tricked-out yacht) for NO EXTRA COST!

It turns out the people who had it booked cancelled because it was raining all day prior to that. Things like this as well as my other story above is why I read stuff on here about people complaining of the experience being cheapened and I just brush it off.. I just don't see it. There is no other place where you can get people to bend over backwards to make your time special like Disney

Went to check into Pop Century on my first visit. My wife had planned the entire trip and I didn't know anything about Disney World whatsoever. At check in they told me they had overbooked the hotel, and needed to transfer us to a different resort. They asked me if The Yacht Club would be ok. I told the CM that I would need to go check with my wife who was in the rental car waiting, since she planned this whole thing and I wasn't sure if she'd be upset. They looked at me like I had two heads but said they would wait for me to check with her. She also looked at me like I had two heads when I ran up to the car to ask if that was ok. So, for the price of Pop Century for 9 nights, we got to stay at The Yacht Club.

I remember watching La Nouba at Downtown Disney (Now Disney Springs) during my third visit to WDW for my Senior Trip. I was witnessing a magical moment being made before the show began. Before the show started the clown duo were seen running to a guy in the bottom section and both tried to blow out the candles. One tried defusing it with his mouth while the other tried blowing harder and later both tried blowing it at the same time. The birthday man tried blowing it and all the flames were gone. Also during my trip, I kept encountering a random person who was having a birthday and heard happy birthday being sang. I remember hearing a French version at the France Pavilion and at the Italy restaurant in the Italy Pavilion.
